Vault Sessions #081 - Beste Hira

BARRO Music Label's new release comes from the experienced hands of producer and DJ C-System and includes four original tracks and a remix by label boss Nöle. Adrenocromo is packed with the best industrial techno and is available as a digital download and as a limited vinyl edition of 200 copies.
José María Moreno Vega, better known as C-System, has been releasing material since 2001 on his own labels (MFM Records and Morforecs) as well as on others as interesting as Kobayashi, Mastertraxx, Armatura and Subsequent. His music has attracted the interest of techno legends such as Dave Clarke and Ken Ishii.
The EP opens with the incredible Adrenocromo, whose liquid, hypnotic melody contrasts with the punchy beats to create an industrial techno bomb that's hard to resist. Nöle's remix gives more prominence to the beats, forgetting a bit about the keyboard melody and instead fills the track with small details. The A-side closes with Deniers, a short composition full of tension.
On the B-side we have Friendly Kick, a banger with special prominence of the bass drum and synths that wouldn't be out of place in a science fiction film. Finally, Project Freedom has a more 90s sound and reduces the darkness of the rest of the EP, presenting a more hedonistic track that you will listen to with your arms up in the air.

A look back at Philippa Pacho’s profound performance in our Room 01 at the positivesource showcase, which she co-founded hand in hand with Blue Hour. The Stockholm-born artist delivered a knife-edged vision to techno during a two-hour memorable set at her imprint night in Fuse.
 
Like a gentle hold, Philippa's narration is as tactile as poignant. Dark without being obscure, musing yet energetic, no one can doubt the decade of musicality that has flowed through her veins ever since. Drawn to sharp kicks or a few clipped vocals here and there, Philippa Pacho's mix is an invitation, or even more an exploration, to a complex and appealing inner world. A stand-out.

It's here, the set from one of the stars of our March edition: Lobster. He promised to go deep and so he did. In an unstoppable manner he was bringing the heat without hesitation. SHDW is the phantom moniker of Marco Bläsi, a Stuttgart native with a penchant for racing percussions and big room sounds. 2014 saw the beginning of his long-term partnership with like-minded techno dealer Obscure Shape (Luigi Urban), with whom he co-ran the party series and label spin-off From Another Mind. Ten years later and Bläsi has set out on his own journey, building on a decade-long legacy of sounds with just himself, ‘his music, decks, and a mixer’. Following on from his previous label, he founded Mutual Rytm in 2022, an outlet and creative platform focused on putting out the type of expansive techno SHDW’s come to be known for. His signature style a blend of intelligently superimposed and shuffling basslines, blink of an eye beats that elicit movement and social bonds. Unerring prime time techno, Bläsi’s path forward is looking promising, with a surge of Mutual Rytm releases and worldwide dates, the next ten years look set to further build on what he’s achieved since he started out. Bassiani Podcast 267 is a true to type episode from this master of the genre, a sleek and contemporary spate of rumbling kicks, dizzying effects and hedonic vibrations, a chugging and groovy 65 minute edition with SHDW’s fingerprints all over it.

Philippa Pacho is one half of the Stockholm/Berlin-based DJ-duo Sthlm Murder Girls. She is born and raised in Stockholm, although she resides in Berlin since 2013. She found the love for electronic in her early adolescence, and it quickly became her passion. Pacho is a true minimalist in her approach one could say, finding the beauty in every single fragment that a track breaks apart into, something she takes to heart when digging for new tracks. To Philippa, a solid, round, and well-implemented kick-drum is imposing enough, often together with feathery hi-hats with spontaneous illusive sounds and quirky small details. But it’s always has to be done according to a simplistic modus operandi.
