"For an album of remakes including several Beatles rearrangements (I was expecting to chill out), I came out expecting to whistle along with Liverpudlian Scouse lethargy...but no...he took Eleanor Rigby and Strawberry Fields for a ride, not around town but around the world on roads less travelled...I mean not even on the map. Mr. Texture extended the melodies with Bach's secret weapon: the Element of Surprise, which wired me up (altruistically), toes curling inwards. Mr. False McCartney did so render the songs 'TRUE'. That is: true to today's Generation X, tech-savvy, call-centeresque, android-genous googlers. But wait, he takes the songs for a landing on familiar grounds (ear-ports) and John, Paul, George and Ringo come to mind again. Just as you are expecting a pleasant, good solid ending of a minor chord, he delivers an blissfully-unexpected Picardie-third which uncurls your toes.
BASTOS siya...but if he's going to give this culturally-burnt out world something to think and smile about through his irreverence, I will gladly take in his musical assault on my nit-picky ears.
