Back to the scene of the panic attack, another year older, bolder, wiser and yet still aware I’m barely scratching the surface of what’s possible in this space

Wholeheartedly welcomed the change of season and loved the winter fashunnnn expressions roving around like free range art on display to the world

What an honour and privilege it is to be able to gather, to dance, to play, to smile, to bypass small talk entirely and get straight to the good stuff! The banter flows effortlessly into philosophy pausing only for puns or taking off on tangents led by curiosity or passion 

We have evolved to be playful by nature, that is exactly how we learn best from childhood as we develop our cognition, motor skills and sense of the world around us but all the way into adulthood it’s how we bond with other humans, unwind and manage stress

To receive the benefits of play we need to be in a relaxed state and there is nothing I find more soul nourishing than being out amongst nature surrounded by hundreds or even thousands of others who heard the same calling

What is originality in music anymore? It's something I've struggled with as a producer and DJ for much of the past 10 years. As a producer I've pretty much given up on sounding original, but as a DJ I've always tried to find music that sounds original or at least attempts to do so. When it comes to dance floor music I've found it nearly impossible to find music that truly has an original sound to it, but I've been finding all sorts of abstract and eclectic Electronica and random tracks here and there that to me really feel like they're doing something different or going Against The Grain if you will....

When two of the worlds best electronica/downtempo producers and DJs, Bluetech and Dj Maggie respectively asked me to create a set for their streaming show Holotropic Happy Hour I knew this was the perfect opportunity to finally put together a set of these tracks! I hope you enjoy the journey!

Treavor Moontribe - Against The Grain

Burning Man. It's the sum total of what makes being human an extraordinary experience, and that feeling has been my constant and consistent theme on the playa since my first time out, in 1995.  In this unscripted, 75-minute mix, mid-tempo organic house explores and celebrates the cultural nuances of mystically joyful and mesmerizing melodies and the deep push of pulsating rhythm and groove. The sounds of Aboriginal Australia, The Middle East, The Celts, and Africans of North, East and West origination, The sounds of the natives of the  Caucus Mountains and SE Asian steppes are all woven together in an unstoppable flow for the dancefloor.

I encourage you to explore and discover the incredible music the following artists have created, whose music ended up in this mix. Behind every tune is years of each and every producers picking up and practising an instrument, spending years learning music composition and music software and hardware, doing countless gigs, signing music contracts, dealings and negotiations JUST to get THEIR art to YOUR ears and DANCEFLOORS. For over 15 years Bluetech (aka Evan Marc) has been making some of the most interesting and vibrant electronic music around. With near perfect production chops and a deep knowledge and execution of music theory, Bluetech has covered IDM, ambient, house/techno and more. He also works with Android Jones on Microdose - a potent video/audio phantasmagoria and is an accomplished digital artist that obsesses over plants daily. His exclusive DJ set for FWD.DJ is a well executed and colorful journey of slow mutant house and various melodic excursions that is a real treat to take in.

Treavor Moontribe Solo Set at Ecstatic Awakenings Retreat, Bali 2018!!!

Some words from Treavor: 

I don't play Ecstatic Dance events often, but I've performed at several during the Ecstatic Awakenings Retreats hosted by the lovely Ronja Sebastian. I really love playing these events, because Ronja puts her full trust in me to achieve the one main goal of making people dance ecstatically. She doesn't put rules on me about how the set needs to go or what type of music I need to play, which is a huge reason I don't seek out gigs at e-dance events usually. She knows that I know who Im playing for and how to get them dancing! This past December 2018 the retreat took place in Bali which is one of my favorite places on earth! I happened to hit the record button on my set there and Im really happy with how it turned out. I hope you enjoy it too!!!
