Brett has been making waves on the international level with his productions while also becoming a staple in the local scene playing at some of the amazing parties Melbourne has to offer. Starting in 2021 Brett released a debuting track on the wonderful Psy Section , followed shortly after by a three track ep on the equally wonderful Goddezz and even more recently tracks on V/A comps by Goddezz and Nebulae Records. Through only this modest amount of releases he has managed to demonstrate his talent by defining his own unique sound, drawing inspiration from the old and new. His tracks always seem to have a deep propulsive quality while maintaining a joyful, dreamy mood throughout bringing you to those unique, encapsulating moments on the dance floor. They feature rich, dreamy synths and pads, driving but groovy lows, and flawlessly placed highs to create a truly immersive state of euphoria.

For Brett’s contribution to the series he has brought his own production sound to his mix. Expect to be taken on a journey of highs, lows and everything in between in the form of deep, dreamy and euphoric 4/4 grooves and breaks.

Skins continues forging his own path with a new label celebrating the uplifting and futuristic sounds of jungle, with a four-tracker featuring tracks with early support from Katiusha, Tañ and Frazer Ray.

Whilst some will know Skins from his days DJing regularly around Oxford, his run of self-released white label techno EPs or last year’s underground hit 24 Hour Dub, more recently he has turned his attention back to the music which made him fall in love with it all in the first place:

“I vividly remember the effect that the futuristic sounds of 90s jungle and drum ‘n’ bass had on me as a kid, hearing snippets of tracks in video games and later stumbling across artists like Alaska, Future Engineers, Seba, Peshay and LTJ Bukem. After years engrossing myself in the cavernous spaces of dub techno, this record feels like a return to my roots, bringing my style into a new arena which still feels like home. The label will serve as an outlet for this and future collaborations with like-minded producers.” - Skins

For the 283rd edition of our mix series we present the impervious Katya. Kindred resident and regular party starter, Katya has a love for all things electro. 

I wanted this mix to reflect the sort of sounds you may expect to see me play in a club setting at the moment —  spooky techno & electro really do it for me, especially if there’s a vocoder involved, so my sets are always infused with a bit of doom & gloom. I play happy stuff too but the moodiness gets to my soul more than any other style of music. Although the mix is punchy, I’ve kept it under 130 and stripped it back so it’s listenable during work hours. I feel like in the past, my guest mixes were probably too intense to listen to unless you were getting ready to go out, that’s something I’ll be doing a lot less of this year. Equally, I’m hoping this mix is the beginning of me coming out of my imposter syndrome fuelled creative block. Enjoy !
