February 2014 saw a relatively nascent FKOF Records celebrate its 5th month with 'FKOFd005' - an EP that's gone on to become one of our most popular (it's actually our most streamed release with ~500k plays). We've waited almost 8 years to work with either artist in the duo who built that release, but the wait's finally over.   

'FKOFd053' is available from the FKOFd Bandcamp next Friday 05/11/21, and Beatport a week after that, 12/11/21. It will be available from all good electronic retailers a fortnight later, 26/11/21. Hit the buy link to pre-order the release from us!

''FKOFd053' is the return of Si Nanobyte to the FKOF family, under a new alias and with a new co-producer. Si and Ry are @Konessi-music, and this is their second outing with material under that name. The debut dropped with our friends at @Kokeshi last year, and if you've not checked the sumptuous 'Mr Shadow EP', please stop what you're doing and go do that first.

'This release also sees us do things a little differently. It's been a labour of love for all involved, and so we all wanted to suitably mark the occasion. This is the first five track EP we've done with FKOFd, it's not all at 140bpm and we've got a video for the EP's first track, 'SOPHIA'. You'll be able to read about the video and the incredible team behind it on the FKOF website soon. Oh, and this isn't the last material you'll hear from Konessi on FKOF Records. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. 

''SOPHIA' sets the tone of what to expect from the five tracks. Autumn sunlight through the forest canopy, 3am peak vibes with friends on the dance floor and that warm embrace of a good sub. 'SHIVA' steps things up a notch and is all stuttering samples, keys and vocals. Evocative stuff. 'KAMBO' is a bit more lowkey, but equally as emotional. It's as close as we get to a roller on the release with its percussive frameworks and meditative framing. Track four, 'SUTRA', is a good example of what to expect from a Konessi live show (yep, that's coming too) - crescendoing experiences that are as equally powerful on a sound system as they are enjoyed solo on an empty road. We close with 'UNION', smoky 'Untrue'-esque spaces that still gives us goosebumps 6mo after first listen. 

'As you can probably tell, this release holds a unique place in the FKOF Records catalogue for us. It feels like the start of something with these two musicians, something the FKOF Records team are all pretty stoked on. We hope you see that something special too!'

Graduating through Education & Bass, RNS & RDubz have been going under the "Saraphim" alias for 2 years, this release follows a single release on Education & Bass, a 4 track EP release with Locus Sound, a track on Sentry Records’ Syndicate Pt 2 compilation, a remix for Dread or Dead Records and 2 releases with Japanese based Vomitspit.

The EP as a whole has a middle eastern theme, the title track "Hennya" is a high energy yet melodic 140 track where the lead drives the groove, "Ifrit" again is designed for the dance with strong bass and leads driving the energy, "Monsoon" takes a darker and confrontational vibe and "Strange Charm" rounds off the EP with a captivating groove from the strings to send you off to another realm.

I've said it before but the Locus Sound crew and myself are like two peas in a pod when it comes to our taste in this particular sphere of music. It was only a couple of weeks ago I featured Cel in a mix for the first time and lo and behold, the New Zealander immediately appears on the label for his debut project! For me, Cel's style slots somewhere between the dark experimental feel of Gantz and the crucial dubstep sounds of fellow Locus roster member Crowley, so you just know this is must listen material. Three original tunes feature on 'Choke' EP, but today I have the pleasure of presenting the bonus free download - a vocal version of 'D.T.T.T', featuring the legendary vocals and flow of MF Doom!
