For easter 2021 ( on 4/4 this year) we release this new compilation with the best in tribal bass music as a dedication to the group and the entire scene and a way to cross international boundaries and bring together the world in a year of reconnection.

Tribal Bass is a mixture of genres ranging from styles using idm-ish breakbeats and fusion trip-hop over ethnic instrumentals, global trap to psy-dub, experimental bass and glitch-hop. It is known as a danceable downtempo style for psy-heads and nu-school hippies and is usually plaid at chill out or second stage areas in European psychedelic festivals, but it also hits the main stages in US, AU, NZ and Can. Creation is Creation, out February 25th on Gravitas Recordings, is a philosophical inquiry regarding the alchemy of creativity. Inspired by nature, Somatoast makes use of the natural world to serve technical, musical purposes. Seeds pods make shakers and icicles are a percussive ensemble. This electro-acoustic fusion spans six original tracks and four remixes– marking another unique development in Somatoast’s ever-evolving sound.

Tapping in Boyd Hill introduces the album with its sweeping aural environments and grounding tapping that begins the story of Creation is Creation, which is that human creativity is the same force of all creation. The tapping heard in the track was recorded live in Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dawn embraces the texture of a seed shaker found in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. By letting the naturally found sounds do the talking, Dawn comes off with a simplified yet refined sound design. Namesake of the album, Creation is Creation is a jazzy approach into the essence of this album. Featuring expansive atmospheres partnered with piano riffs and inspiring lyrics, Creation is Creation dives deep into exploration of the universe that resides all around us.

An organic reprieve in the middle of the album, Kokoa features distinct usage of primitive and empowering vocals before segwaying into Icicle that was inspired from the Texas Freeze in early 2021 with lush guitar lines, rippling breakdowns and grounding bass. Lastly, Ooh Yeah is an experimental glitchy departure from the rest of the album, highlighting resounding soundscapes underneath bouncing plucks. As a bonus, the album rounds out with remixes from Lapa, Edamame, Skysia and Kaya Project.

Revealing the next masterpiece of the Croatian heavyweight, the prolific imprint welcomes its next family member and two mammoth tracks. From vintage FX to on-the-fly arrangements and live instruments - Egoless’ production style encapsulates the Jamaican roots, transferring its spirit into the modern era.

Heading straight into the abyss of ‘Decolonize’, we’re being greeted with tastefully overdriven tape hiss, obscured by reverb. Oriental, sitar-esque string plucks take form, wielding an increasingly inquisitive nature. Alongside the organic, percussive swing the string plucks cease for a moment - a fierce vocal statement excites the air as the full intensity of this sonic weapon hits the speakers and every last fibre in your body. The superbly orchestrated arrangement flows in a continuous groove, led onward by haunting surges and psychedelic flute arpeggios. On top of the stomping foundation, longing spheres conclude the anthem and leave us crave for a rewind.

Turning to ‘Global’ - the alarm bells of an apocalyptic future reverberate into to your ears. Gargantuan drone pulses lead the way for tribal, acoustic drums to stir the dance. A daunting swing hurls its monumental weight. Deeply imbued with rhythm - the meticulously crafted sound design leaves us dancing in awe. Life-like, vibrant flute performances form a harmonic composition of exceeding quality, sure to fire up any dance. Polished by creative vocal sampling and Egoless’ fine-tuned sense of controlling tension & release - these tracks will stand the test of time - for this year and beyond.

Dance for Peace is a series of ecstatic dance sets I have put together with the intention for prayer through movement. Move your body, connect with the earth, and feel her vibration change from the inside out.
