A mix of blurred styles and utopian places, dedicated to the big variety of artists presented at "blurred edges -Festival für aktuelle Musik Hamburg 2016". 

It starts with casiotone collages, passes sinister road and punctuation marks, followed by secret whispers and provocative percussion, until it ends in the soft arms of synthetic arpeggios. "Küss mich, Alptraum, küss mich wach" (Ziggy XY)

Empty Editions is proud to present Eli Keszler’s Last Signs of Speed as our inaugural release. This release, our first vinyl record, has represented a labor of love for both Eli and ourselves.
 
Last Signs is Eli’s first solo release since 2012’s Catching Net (PAN Records) and explores a very different side of his unique acoustic universe. One in which the macrocosmic percussive collisions of his earlier work give way to a gradual unfolding of dub-influenced rhythmic constellations. Eli has described Last Signs as his response to playing in club environments over the last few years; an attempt to negotiate a delicate balance between the materiality of his acoustic instrument and the hyper-mediated sonic ecosystem of the club sound system. Coming off like an inspired synthesis between Scientist and Xenakis, Last Signs of Speed is a truly unique work by an artist at the height of his powers.

The last mix in our series with CPH:DOX is made by the one and only  Felix Kubin. 

Felix Kubin has been involved with the noise project Klangkrieg, the communist singing group Liedertafel Margot Honecker and the tetchy teenage bands Die Egozentrischen 2 and x2. Reaching from abstract Expressionism to Pop Surrealism and cassette tape punk. If isolation and social distancing is a marathon separated in different phases, there's the right music that helps to survive each one of them. Join Felix Kubin for almost 2 hours of Radio Immunity with four sections of quirky and peaceful film scores. Felix Kubin will guide you through it all.  

"I am not a collector. My records observe me. They lead their own life. The easiest records to find in my archive are the film scores. I only have a small bunch of them because a lot of film music is mediocre, pompous and unnecessary. The scores I put together for this collection are so strong in form and content that they can easily exist without the films. Their composers experimented with new techniques and means of expression. Some of the scores are abstract, some cross the border to foley sound. It seems that production companies and directors respected the artistic freedom of film composers more in the past. But film music can never be just a greasy background noise. Film music has to be an actor - or stay silent. " - Felix Kubin

IN THE MIX WITH Felix Kubin: Filmriss - supranormal film scores selected for Radio Immunity

Noise improv trio tK (Heather Kapplow, Phil Milstein, Thalia Zedek) formed at the start of 2018, and released Bandcamp albums Urchin Figurines and Sixteen Tones in our first year. We spent much of 2019 on hiatus due to the travel schedules of various members, but released two remotely-produced "5 Minute” cassettes on Wee Space Tapes in that year.

Our first rehearsal after reconvening in early 2020 found us knocking the rust off our instruments, but we rose to the occasion at our next one, playing unexpectedly at peak form. It’s been rare for us to arrive at unanimous views of our performances, but each of us felt the magic during this March 1 session, and once again when listening back to the recording. It is from that recording that we present tonight’s set.

tK will be releasing a full album, Quarta Voce — in download and cassette formats -- on Wrong Whole Archival Records Bureau later this year.
