Some artists manage to carve out a space in your mind with a style so distinct you find yourself constantly returning for more. Over the past year and a half, one name has been on steady rotation here at Delayed: Sciama. Whether it's his original productions or hypnotic mixes, the London-based producer has consistently delivered. His work has earned a home on ASC's outstanding Auxiliary label and, more recently, on Forest Drive West's OODA imprint.

Today's feature is a special treat, a thrilling journey through Sciama's set from this year's Perpendicular festival. Our ongoing collaboration continues to shine a spotlight on the freshest talent and cutting-edge mixes, and this is no exception. This is Sciama at his most exhilarating: a 130-minute thrill ride recorded late at night deep in a Spanish forest. Packed with polyrhythmic wizardry that straddles the line between halftime and techno, it's a rollercoaster of tension and explosive release points carried by a relentless groove, impossible to resist.

This is a set to get lost in, move to, and feel visceral. It's crème de la crème DJing from one of our favorites. Hats off, Sciama; it's great to have you back.

The wizard had grown weary, the pressure and machinations of his earthly presence had worn him down. He had injected so much of himself into his creations it was the only place left he could find true solace. But even with the weight it posed, it had left him with a feeling of joy for all the genuine connections he had a chance to form to others and the feelings his creations was evoking in people.

At an opening in the cave overlooking a vast swaying field drenched in moonlight, he doffs his cape, uncovering below his true nature; a prince of beauty, radiating kindness and pure essence.

He takes one last breath before his being bursts into stars that swirl upward and disperse into the night sky, leaving nothing but his cape on the earthen floor; with markings reading “infinita”.

Spectral Bounce proudly presents Zevar, the debut release by Aedis. An alias of David Iriarte, this new undertaking sees the Amsterdam-based artist plumbing the depths & tunnelling further into a sound that has surely been in the works for some time. One half of Iro Aka, Iriarte is no stranger to the exploration of ambiance & rhythmic play: the duo released a trilogy of records on John Talabot’s label Hivern Discs between 2020 & 2023.

On Zevar, Iriarte first traverses the deeper territories of tech house before conjuring up mystic 2-step and delving into rolling techno. The sense of spaciousness throughout the EP is vivid: perpetually unfolding modulated delays; cavernous reverb; weighty, grounding sub frequencies. This expanse is punctuated by fragmentary voices, psychedelic refrains (“Xtz”), intricate break deployment (“Station”) and thudding bass tones (“RTHM”). Just enough is given, just enough held back. With these 4 tracks, Aedis brings you that little bit deeper.

Calling @mattheis a pillar of Nous'klaer Audio would be an understatement. Founded in 2013, the label was at the time solely created to put out Mattheis' Isms EP. Now, twelve years on, we present his latest album: Waiting for the Silhouette.

The forty minute LP full of dreamy techno bliss explorations starts out, and is glued throughout, with ethereal modulating synths. Dreamscapes fuse into scattered drums and shifting patterns briefly usher in changing phases. It's in these moments when the unworldly contours take form and are built upon by other emerging elements. Waiting for the silhouette is a record about things coming to life, outlines that start to appear and shapes evoking memories that could as well be premonitions. Minimalism and maximalism become indistinguishable on this album, through the trip in between.

About the Artist: NYC-based selector threehz explores the emotive sides of techno, experimental, and ambient music for every performance, taking inspiration from sludgy dark psychedelia to pulsing warpdrive drum tracks. Whether rinsing healing or destructive frequencies, as their namesake suggests, threehz knows how to craft textured, curated soundscapes on the dance floor which can be heard at multiple event series’ in NYC and residencies for The Lot Radio.

About the set: This was an opening set, so it starts low and dark and works up to a place where the energy is built up and ready to hand off.  I love to incorporate contemporary favorites with classic cuts going back to the 90s, in a way that I think cohesively marries the different eras of techno despite spanning over 30 years of time and this mix definitely reflects that. While I am usually aiming for a psychedelic, hypnotic vibe, I always feel like Bossa (especially on a Saturday) can have a bit of an unhinged energy so I tried to tap into that a bit towards the last third of the mix. I was pleased with how this turned out for a live set and am happy to be able to share it.  Many thanks to Facetime/Eric for having me!

He started DJing in 2009, forging his own distinct path and consistently dedicating himself to the growth of the Korean electronic music scene. Beyond simply playing music, he actively cultivates an organic relationship with the scene through various endeavors. He's notably the planner behind the electronic music festival 'PROMPT', delivering fresh audiovisual experiences, and a co-founder of the underground music community 'tread', contributing to the establishment of a free and vibrant music ecosystem. He also maintains an active presence as a member of the renowned electronic music label 'Oslated'. Currently, he operates 'atdge', a DJ bar in Seoul, directly engaging and connecting with listeners on the ground.
