Sound artist and experimental ambient musician KMRU, takes us on AF Reflect Eyewear's sound journey.

Joseph Kamaru, aka KMRU, is a sound artist and experimental ambient musician, raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and currently based in Berlin where he is a Master’s student in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the Universität der Künste. His works deal with discourses of field recording, improvisation, noise, ambient, machine learning, radio art and expansive hypnotic drones. He has earned international acclaim from his performances in far-flung locales as well as his ambient recordings.

The fourth episode of the Gasoline Selectors series will immerse us in viscous emotional landscapes, drifting alongside the co-founder of Concentric Records and the sonic explorer known as Born in 1986.

Utilizing the podcast format as a means of communication capable of transcending words, the artist employs music for a more intuitive and intimate self-exploration. Like all the mixes he has curated, this recording for Gasoline tells a story.

Despite the absence of genre constraints and conventional track interactions, a clear narrative emerges. Amidst the dominant ambient spaces, where uncharted wilderness intertwines with abandoned industrial complexes, the listener in a trance-like state will experience the gradual shifts of a kaleidoscope of sensory perceptions and feelings.

Growing up in Belgium but with Italian origins, Fernando absorbed the music in his family home from an early age, as his father played Italian classics, soul, and funk and his older brother engaged with electronic music from the early 90s.
Fernando has periodically paused to meticulously shape his profile, alternating between phases of production and research. The world, in his view, is a vast laboratory that demands experimentation. In his own words, each opportunity has deepened his addiction, with every new track opening a door to fresh inspiration from different labels, sounds, and microcosms within the ever expansive universe of music.

Well, as you know already, he proved everybody wrong. 

He has always been a true music lover and clubber, who is devoting is life to the music industry. Living together in London and be able to connect deeply with Luca is what life is about. A friendship that will last.

Here a 3 hours set recorded this summer on the Romanian mountains during the WAHA Festival. A festival that will remain always in our heart.

AF Reflect’s sound journey 009 with Claudio PRC

Creating sonic bridges from the literal, perceivable world into mythical, imaginal realms is what Sardinia-born and Berlin-based DJ and Producer Claudio PRC might be best known for. Instead of using extravertive elements, he enhances the overall experience through a wide-screen appeal, playing with spatial awareness through details and taking the audience on a journey into the all-or-nothing of sound.
So far, Claudio PRC has released on Prologue Music, Semantica Records, and most recently Delsin Records. He is the founder of 012, a label and curated night held in several places across Europe, where he focuses on collaborative work with connected producers and visual artists.
Like in everything he does, a Claudio PRC DJ set is a meticulously sewn journey. This makes him a key protagonist in the emerging world of hypnotic techno, playing regularly at an international level at the most reputable festivals and clubs.

About:
Garda is a solo ambient music project by Simas Gardauskas, based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Since 2018, when it originally started as a downtempo music project, Garda has been gradually shifting towards more ambient / dark ambient / drone influenced sounds which are also strongly accompanied with field recordings which are constantly being recorded while traveling the world. Currently music by Garda is mostly either self released or being released on some music labels such as Neotantra, Atlantea Records and so on.

AF Reflect’s sound journey 010 with Nicola Kazimir

The subtle interplay of clicks and cuts reveals a surprising sonic depth within its delicate framework. It's a soundscape where the minutiae – the transient click, the momentary digital flicker – become the focal point. This genre, which flourished in the late 90s and early 2000s, particularly on pioneering labels like Mille Plateaux and 12k, is one I consistently return to, finding also its compelling contemporary interpretations. Each of these labels, in their own way, explored the boundaries of electronic sound, pushing into territories of minimalism and microsound. There's a unique neutrality in its repetitive soundscapes, a reduction that avoids heavy pads and instead explores minuscule dynamics. I hope you enjoy this click and cut ambient mix as much as I do. 

Nicola Kazimir inhabits various positions within electronic music culture, functioning as a DJ, producer, label owner (Les Points, Gentrified Underground, Infoline, FREQ), offspace owner of Mikro Zürich, manga creator, and curator. His work with FREQ involves a collaborative project with writer Dai Sato (known for his work on anime such as Cowboy Bebop and Ergo Proxy), creating a class-conscious sci-fi manga illustrated by goodnewsforbadguys, that references electronic music. His artistic and sonic productions frequently explore themes like the institutionalization of techno, copyright, and the perception of repetitive rhythmic patterns, often blended with aesthetic codes from video games and B-movie horror. He is also part of the duo Elektronische Sequenz Proleten with DJ WEB, and has performed at clubs worldwide including Tresor Berlin, and Contact Tokyo.
