Sealand is the new 4-track EP by Classical Mechanics (Marcas Lancaster), composed using System Moffenzeef, a unique modular synthesiser created by Ross Fish of Moffenzeef Modular. 

Sealand is an as-yet unrecognised micronation consisting of an off-shore platform in the North Sea built as a sea fort in World War II. Its colourful history includes occupation by pirate radio broadcasters, a mercenary raid, and a rebel government in exile. The principality issues its own stamps, currency, titles and passports. Celebrating this great emblem of English eccentricity, Sealand ponders the unknown, tracking unfamiliar signals, picking up far-off sirens and drifting into dark waters. Gentle glitches bump up against melodic clusters, and hissing waves intimate a foreign music in the heart of noise. From the buoyant propulsion of Porphyry to the oneiric half-spoken fragments of Toise, Sealand is a meditation on the nature of autonomy, isolation and sovereignty.

To mark the release of Sealand, Ross has designed and manufactured a limited-edition of ten Eurorack modules. He will also present a workshop for Nonclassical exploring the technology behind a shared aesthetic in the form of a software module which participants can then own. 

Out 11/03/2022 (digital and dubplate release). The EP is also available physically as a limited dubplate edition, complete with an exclusive Moffenzeef/Classical Mechanics Eurorack drum module (strictly limited to 10 pieces).

Sealand is a 4 track EP by Marcas Lancaster aka Classical Mechanics. The music was composed using a System Moffenzeef, a unique modular synth created by Ross Fish, founder of Moffenzeef Modular. Echoing the title of the release, the music is contemplative with sober melodies, broken spoken word and glitched elements. 
Ross has designed and manufactured a limited edition of 10 modules to accompany the release and will present a workshop for Nonclassical wherein aspects of the technology embodying the manufacturer and artist’s shared aesthetic will be explored in the form of a software module which participants can then own. Marcas Lancaster has previously contributed to releases on Nonclassical as a remixer but this is their first solo work on the label. 
The release is out 11/03/2022 in digital and will be available physically as a strictly limited dubplate edition complete with an exclusive Moffenzeef/Classical Mechanics Eurorack drum module. This exclusive offering is limited to 10 copies only.

Cortical Songs is a work in four movements for string ensemble and solo violin written by John Matthias and Nick Ryan in which the orchestra is partially controlled by a tiny computer brain. 

The album features the String Ensemble of Trinity College of Music, conducted by Nic Pendlebury with the solo violin played by John Matthias and live interactive programming by Nick Ryan.

As well as the four movements of Cortical Songs, the album also includes remixes by Thom Yorke, Simon Tong (Gorillaz / The Good The Bad & The Queen), Simon Jones & Nick McCabe (The Verve), John Maclean (The Beta Band / The Aliens), Gabriel Prokofiev, and others.

Founded in 2004 by composer Gabriel Prokofiev, nonclassical began as a clubnight focused on presenting new music in non-traditional performance spaces. We have since presented events across the UK and worldwide, and our record label is home to artists including Tansy Davies, Aïsha Orazbayeva, Gabriel Prokofiev, Langham Research Centre, Tom Richards and many more.
