He blows the miniscule specks of pollen away, but the static electricity doesn’t make it an easy task. People go back and forth on the swings that hang from the majestic plane trees and dirty feet engage in tribal dancing. I've been talking to the water for 25 hours and I don't want the journey to end."

André Pahl (@andrepahl)(Berlin) is known for his Safari mixes—pitched down cinematic journeys through uncharted seas, forbidden deserts and distant galaxies. His sound tends to oscillate between psychedelic trips, spaced out electronics and voodoo percussion, exploring the slowed-down heartbeat of danceable music. Listening to André Pahl’s sets is like being compelled to push yourself inside a forest even though you know it'll be dangerous — head first, then the whole body, submerged deep into a strange jungle world, partly solid, partly made of shimmering liquids.

"The mix was put together with the image of soundtracking a good night in, from dinner to downtime to dance, without straying too much beyond 120bpm. We are bracing for another storm here in Leeds, so the attraction is to stay inside rather than venture to a bar or club. That's the mood that inspired this really.

It was recorded over the course of a late evening with two turntables and a few piles of records dotted about the living room in keeping with the vibe of the other mixes in the series, but also straying into dubby, housey tunes that are always too tempting not to involve."

This time I’ve focused on rock in its many iterations: Francophone prog, barroom jam bands, home town psychedelia, coastal pop, 4-track shoegaze and suburban new wave. These songs span decades and coastlines but converge with a shared sense of independence and emotional resonance.
