This is the full recording of my last performance on the UNDERGROUND stage in DETROIT for the Movement Electronic music festival 2013. ive been attending the festival for over 12  years now and this year was by far one of the most memorable nights ive ever played in detroit. The bass on that stage is still till today the most intense things ive experienced in my whole DJ career. In order to continue playing we had to duct tape every piece of gear to the table and the faders on the mixer would not sit in one place ... although these technical issues presented problems in this recording. i decided to publish it as it is in order to preserve the memory of this day. Tim Xavier's passion for music has kept him on the forefront of techno since his innovative releases on Blueline in Chicago a decade ago. His career began in Houston in the 90s, and then on to Chicago, Brooklyn and now Berlin, where he has resided since 2007. He is a veteran to the industry; and his dark, edgy production style has remained uncompromised through the ever changing genres of techno and house. He is also the owner and chief engineer at Manmade Mastering in Berlin; and this sleepy-eyed coffee addict defines cool as he cuts master plates for many respected record labels. 

Tim’s music has been charted and played by leading artists around the world, and he has worked with many labels such as Cocoon, Minus, Sci-Tec, Podium, Timefog, Little Helpers, Sleaze, Droid Behavior and many more. He is also the owner of his own imprint, LTD400, which encompasses his irresistible combination of quirk, funk, space and drive. Tim spray-paints his signature icon on 400 sleeves of each release, a process that he says connects him more closely to his music and audience. He also works with partner Camea on her imprint Clink Recordings, with Tony Rohr as the ‘Afternoon Coffee Boys’. His newest label is Face To Face.

What better way to kick off a new year than with a new project? Sure, podcasts are nothing new, but by now the Dekmantel family has grown to the point where we have a lot to shout about. The DJ collective, festival and label are all well established, but we feel we need even more outlets for all the great music we have from our extended family. As such, we are launching a new weekly series that will showcase exclusive mixes from our favourite friends and freaks, with Marcel Dettmann going first. 

Aside from being a supremely tall and long haired human being, Marcel Dettmann is of course one of the techno powerhouses behind Berghain. It is his long, seductive and firmly rooted techno sets that have made the Berlin club, and man himself, so hallowed around the world. Also a fine producer who lays down his own brand of concrete funk on labels like Ostgut Ton, 50Weapons and his own eponymous label, he inaugurates our series with a very special live recording then from New Year’s Eve 2014 at Berghain. The resulting 90 minute set is everything it should be - supple and seductive, then freaky and funky, then deliciously dark and increasingly weird towards the end, so enjoy the ride.

His unparalleled knack for crafting big-room-ready tunes that engineer a complex cocktail of cutting-edge elegance, modular intuitivity and hi-impact punch has logically made him a much sought-after talent in the scene. Not departing from that polymathic approach, his RYC mix, recorded at the PURE G event at FINAL Taipei on December 7, treats us to a storm of shape-shifting grooves and brutalist fractals of sound. Beware, high voltage.

Reclaim Your City 625 | Wata Igarashi

Tatsuya Kanamori quickly became one of the few Japanese techno producers to rise to worldwide prominence within the late 90's techno scene with his productions and remixes as DJ Shufflemaster.
Originally a committed member of the Tokyo-based label Subvoice, where he released several of his early EPs, Kanamori's reputation outside of Japan was greatly aided by his affiliation with European techno heavyweights such as Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Ben Sims and Carl Lekebusch.

It was no surprise that Berlin-based Tresor knocked on the door and offered Kanamori the opportunity to record her first full-length album. In 2001, he appeared via Tresor, a full-length LP packed with a string of dancefloor-oriented techno productions featuring Kanamori's trademark aesthetic, making him one of the first Japanese techno producers to achieve worldwide recognition.

Raised in small-town Indiana on a musical diet of 80s synth pop and punk rock, Noncompliant soon found barnyard raves and warehouse techno parties and (as DJ Shiva) quickly became a fixture of the fabled 90s Midwest USA rave scene.

Now, almost three decades and a name change later, she is at the top of her techno game. She was recognized as one of Mixmag's Top 20 Breakthrough DJs in 2017 and has performed at renowned venues like Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, Smartbar in Chicago, and DeSchool in Amsterdam. She has also appeared at festivals such as Unsound and Movement Detroit. 

Noncompliant's releases and remixes on labels like Valence, Flash, Outerworld, and Dark Entries have made waves in the global music scene, with her track "Women's Work" even landing on Fiedel's official Berghain 08 mix and his label Fiedeltwo. In 2023, she is launching her own label called Giant Arm, which features her signature style of raw, uncompromising techno. 

At her core, Noncompliant is a die-hard techno fan with a deep love for music and a drive to continue honing her craft as a DJ and producer to share her favorite music with people on dance floors around the world.
