New to the label but not to the brand one of the go-to DJs when it’s lineup time Mikey Palermo hits the internet with his inaugural release on No Neon Records. A departure from the bouncing Tech House Palermo has been smashing into the ears of his listeners “Static Room” takes him into new depths with a deeper more melodic house sound. Setting it up with some lofi drums the mood of the song is set with rich bass and a reverb-soaked vocal in the break and pulsing arpeggiators carry you into the finale. If this is the new Mikey we’re all for it.

NNR011 brings another fresh face to No Neon as @james-blvck-music makes his debut on the label. Your Voice is one of those tracks you hear mid-set to bring the energy up or late night to keep things rolling along. The track itself is driven by a punchy kick and rolling bassline while revolving around a moody and almost ominous vocal, atmospheric pads and a complimenting melody.  The break brings up the energy and adds tension with a progressive arp pattern before moving into a high energy drop where every element comes together with a classic techno bass stab to lead the way. With productions like this James is proving himself to be one to watch.

When Joseph (Pantheon) and I got into the studio we sat down, had a look at all the equipment, and chose out a few key machines to work with and they would dictate the record. The obvious one you hear running through the track with the arpeggio line coming from the Arp 2600 clone. Once we started jamming the Arp with a couple of the drum machines the sketch came together really quickly. -Craig

With its soulful diva vocals and drum and bass soundscapes Love Loss perfectly encapsulates some of my most major influences when writing music. A fierce groove built on analog gear and smothered in distorted synth lines and 8bit rave stabs its intention is to be an unadulterated dance floor pounder and from my experience playing it live it sure does deliver! I'm def looking forward to seeing it making its way out into the world.
