This is an archival listening project exploring what happens to the act of listening when a loop of sound DOESN'T END.
In the exploded archive, we will listen to loops for increasing amounts of time and track our interpretations of what we are hearing.
we can then notice changes in how extended listening to the same sounds effects the act of listening .
For this project, the act of listening will be rendered as a “poetic extraction”:
writing down the moment to moment outcome of one’s own reflections that occur in the mind while listening to a sound loop.
Each loop will be posted here, below, with examples of the poetic extraction for short, medium, and long time periods
as well as some archival context for the sounds that go together to make each loop.
Visitors are invited to listen to the loops for short, medium, and long sessions and write down their own moment-to-moment interpretations in the accompanying fields.

We are pleased to release a special DJ set by our beloved Flora Yin-Wong. Flora Yin-Wong is a London-born, Chinese-Malaysian multidisciplinary producer and DJ. Sculpting ambient field recordings into dissonant pastiches informed by the synthetic framework of club influences, Flora Yin-Wong’s body of work cycles through the emotional spectrum. Informed by life experiences spanning through East Asia and beyond, her aural collages vibrate with personal, social and spiritual history—sampling temple chimes, the Chinese Yangqin stringed instrument, Cantonese pop music and pulling from her family’s history of involvement with opera. Instinctually powerful, her work touches on existential themes of death, transmission and rebirth in a way that can crawl under a listener’s skin. Her releases on PTP, Pan and C.A.N.V.A.S. really inspired us to make this session happens. This time Flora delivered a beautiful wide range set - CSS068.
