Twenty years have passed since Robert Hood established M-Plant as the outlet for his pioneering, minimal reinvention of the Detroit techno blueprint. To mark this anniversary, 2014 has seen classic M-Plant releases reinvigorated by a series of re-edits and remixes, culminating in the next milestone in the label’s musical journey: ‘M-Print: 20 Years of M-Plant Music’.

Thirty years ago, LA producer Aaron Paar realized his dream of launching a label with the debut of Worldship Music, dropping the now cult classic Planet Eater EP in the late summer of 1995. Crafted on his newly acquired SP1200 and refined with mix engineer extraordinaire Greg “Ski” Royal, the record became the label’s very first release and a true vanguard single. Overflowing with the raw swing and deep grooves of classic US house, these tracks still radiate the timeless energy of the mid-90s underground. First up we welcome the (almost) newcomer Diego Amura. After releasing a strong Ep for Arts he arrives at Etruria with his powerful track 'Nightfail', powered by a heavy, distorted kick and a dark vocal. 'Flip That Back' is delivered by Avotre’s mastermind Santé, showing his true underground persona with an obscure vocal that will blow your mind. 

Tania Vulcano teams up with Audiohell and Jose De Divina to present, in true DC10’ style, 'Rebound', a track that is already set to feature on DJ Magazine's Ibiza covermount Mix, before the mysterious new duo Reform drop 'We Want It', a no nonsense heads-down techno stomp of the finest order. It’s a rare moment in the life of Robert Hood’s M-Plant label when he hands over to another producer, but no surprise that he should pick Mark Broom for the next release, seeing as he’s previously been entrusted to provide edits of Hood’s tracks for the label’s 20th Anniversary celebrations (MPM19) and is currently tearing up dancefloors with his unreleased dubplate mix of Floorplan’s ‘Never Grow Old’.

The original version of ‘Stunned’ was released on Mark Broom & Dave Hill’s renowned Pure Plastic label back in 1997. The “97 Mix” featured here started as a live mix of the track, which Mark has now tweaked for maximum dancefloor devastation.

It’s accompanied on the flip side by a brand new composition of equally outstanding quality. Broom is in fine form on ‘Decay’ with his tight production skills delivering the kind of tough, raw Techno that sits perfectly on M-Plant.
