Big Man   -   The New Vigos

A song recorded in 2023 inspired by a documentary based on the child care system in Great Britain.
So as we all get ready to enjoy Christmas with our family and friends spare a thought for this.
There’re was a little boy who shared a memory that all he as left of his life with his real mother was a few toy soldiers and a snow globe.
They sat on a shelf for him to think & remember that for whatever reason his mother gave him up.
He was one of the lucky children who managed to get adopted and find a new loving family to take care of him.
Others not so and stay In children’s homes until they were 18.
And here is the problem once they became 18 they became no longer a problem for the system.
With little or no help they are expected to leave & fend for themselves without the love or security like a normal young person would expect from his family.
The system is so flawed & totally under funded hence kick the can down the street & watch it land at another’s feet.
Not the government’s problem anymore.
The adoption system is such a long drawn out process that it puts future potential step parents off.
So many children just stay in the system until they are 18 and then are classed as adults.
They may be adults but not ready for the world alone, outside the door.

We could write a fluffy Christmas song with all the cliches but we choose not to.
Hope you enjoy and pause for thought.

We recorded this last summer and were talking about making some changes but never got around to it.  I believe this track is too good to just languish on my hard drive so here it is - our third track together - Shattered

A very recent recorded song that we felt we wanted to release as it tells the sad story of two close friends.
One friend was always referred to as the other ones Wingman.
The wingman is a man who helps, protects, or guides a friend and always has his back in any circumstances.
The story is set in the early 90s when the British underground warehouse party scene was rising.
These two friends would travel to them after having tip offs of its location as it was always kept low key.
They attended many of these raves that would carry through into the next day sunrise, if they wasn’t busted by the law.
Until a fatal pill cost the wingman his life.
His friend never got over it as they were close as a coat of paint.

This is a beautiful song written by Soph and she kindly allowed me to muscle in and help with the production / arrangement and additional instrumentation.

Soph had previously recorded the song with just her singing and playing piano.  This version is also worth a listen as it's such a great song and works so well with just vocal and piano.

Anyway we're both really pleased how this version has turned out.  Also being released on Spotify and all other streamers on Monday 2nd June.

Gaz wrote these powerful and moving lyrics about a vivid memory of the last time he spent with a close friend a week before his passing.
It's the third anniversary this year of his death. He died of liver cancer that took him swiftly from this world. He left a Wife and two beautiful young adult daughters.
Gaz says - "Rest in peace Andy my friend and I will never forget the laughs you gave me and support over our long Friendship."

The Last Time    -    Conscience of Kings

So pleased with this first song collaborating with Todd.  A talented and creative singer / songwriter with great vocal technique, tone and range.  And such a nice guy who's so easy and fun to collaborate with.

I sent Todd the music and he wrote these lyrics "about building up a false and hardcore persona, underpinned by pride, as a result of being badly hurt yourself along the way.  In doing so, the victim becomes the inflictor and the cycle (and virus) of hurt continues and spreads. Left unchecked, resentment and pride, rob you of everything good in your life which renders you persona non grata long before you’re in the grave.

The verses are written as questions and the chorus an assertion that pride brings pain and a kind of death well before you’re pushing up daisies."

A song we recorded back in April 2024 about how we talk about all the things that are wrong but it doesn’t make a difference.
Great Britain is broken at the moment and seriously needs fixing but know one seems to know how.
A new government has appeared to make it worse yet told us we can sort this.
The poorest are getting poorer and the richest are getting richer. The world will never be equal but when a country of our wealth is struggling we know something is wrong. 
Working families can’t pay the basics bills or put food on the table because prices have gone through the roof.
We pump chemical factory waste directly into our rivers because someone’s getting an handout somewhere along the line. Meanwhile the wildlife dies and can’t recover. 
Our incredible NHS system is on its knees & so under funded with record waiting lists for every treatment.
Wars in other countries that have a massive effect on our Country. 
We talk about all these things bringing them in with talking about the weather, football scores & VAR. 
It would just be nice to talk about the good things that make life worth living instead of doom & gloom.
