I have named this track Drone Vox Requiem disquiet0548 in honor of the memory of Marc's father and my son-in-law who we will honor this weekend. I recorded a basic vocal drone track (and all tracks) using Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser Microphone, A Macbook Pro, and Garageband. One of the tracks I varied the tones by changing the shape of my mouth to produce variations in the sound and tone of my voice. I did use looping, because I have not figured out how to do circular breathing.

Just Before The Quiet Mystery Of Dawn (naviarhaiku443)

Recorded five short takes of my voice, adding vocal resonances and a-e-i-o-u variations. After arranging the parts in Ableton Live (not as easy as I thought it would be), I imported one of the parts into Iris, isolated some frequencies for an additional chord pattern. Treated another part with Ambient 4.1 from Audiobulb. I could also extract a rhythmic pattern which I liked. 

Added a bit of Supermassive reverb. Everything sounds better with Supermassive. Hence the name of the track.

Disquiet Junto Project 0548: Drone Vox
The Assignment: Make a drone using just your voice.

Step 1: Think about what constitutes drone music.

Step 2: Make some drone music from nothing other than the sound of your own voice. You can manipulate and layer your voice, but please add no other instrumentation.

Eight Important Steps When Your Track Is Done:

Step 1: Include “disquiet0548” (no spaces or quotation marks) in the name of your tracks.

Step 2: If your audio-hosting platform allows for tags, be sure to also include the project tag “disquiet0548” (no spaces or quotation marks). If you’re posting on SoundCloud in particular, this is essential to subsequent location of tracks for the creation of a project playlist.

Step 3: Upload your tracks. It is helpful but not essential that you use SoundCloud to host your tracks.

Step 4: Post your track in the following discussion thread at llllllll.co:

Everything Sounds Better With Supermassive [disquiet0548]

the concept for this work is to take two abstract rhythmic sections both panned hard left & right each with their own rhythm and tones but together, when combined creating something "other"

sounds are effected drumracks in ableton on the left with field recordings of me bashing stuff in the garden on the right

Some randomized autopan is applied to give the pieces movement in the mix

Disquiet Junto Project 0551: The Bends
The Assignment: Get less strict about something you’re strict about.

Step 1: Think about things you’re strict about when you make music. Maybe you only work in a minor key, or you never use drum machines, or you always stick in 4/4, or you never revisit past work, or something else entirely.

Step 2: Choose one thing from the list you made in Step 1 and think of it as a rule.

Step 3: Think about how you could be less strict in regard to the rule you focused on in Step 2.

Step 4: Record a piece of music in which you bend the rule, as you determined in Step 3.

20221202 MIDI Piano Variations [disquiet0570]

Months of hearing my kids playing bits of Rush E (Andrew Wrangell) on and off of the piano have inspired a couple MIDI piano pieces.  This second one uses a few different modes and/or keys and is in the style of a duet that has simple beginnings.
