My interpretation of what would be Ranger's (Quake Champions) theme song! I was kind of envisioning how fighting game characters have their tracks that play while I made this. With Ranger originating from Quake 1, I knew it's soundtrack needed a heavy presence in this one. I threw in references to the tracks Quake Theme, Aftermath, Hall of Souls, and Life. Going with the sort of Gothic theme that Q1 had, throwing in a little pipe organ would hurt either as the Volkerh mapset utilizes it as well. 

A good chunk of the Q1 OST is in the key of D, and deviating from that ended up sound wrong, so in order to get my guitars as low as I wanted them to... I didn't use them. The heavy parts are actually a bass guitar using electric guitar processing. In my mind, this track is my impression of Sonic Mayhem and Mick Gordon interpreting Trent Reznor's classic Quake OST.

Ranger has a tragic story, as he was ripped from his family and tossed into the nightmarish world of Quake from which he can't seem to awaken. I wanted to reflect this in the somber tone of the chorus in this track (and inadvertently ended up giving a subtle nod to the Max Payne theme). Part of me wanted this song to end on a looping fade out to sort of reflect him being trapped in hell.

My interpretation of what would be Slash's (Quake Champions) theme song! I was kind of envisioning how fighting game characters have their tracks that play while I made this. I knew I wanted to make at least one Drum and Bass song for the champions as that genre of music was incredibly popular among classic frag videos of the late 90's and early 2000's, and I don't think there was a better choice than Slash.

I wanted to do a little counterplay between high energy DnB and slightly more somber sections as Slash hasn't always had it easy. Between dealing with drug addiction and a likely traumatic childhood, Slash maintains a sort of sinister childlike innocence with her personality and even keeps her teddy bear close by.

I wanted to put this out first because it was basically complete when the poll was first posted and I didn't want to leave everyone hanging with release timing. :)

Here's what you voted for! My interpretation of what would be Visor's (Quake Champions) theme song! I was kind of envisioning how fighting game characters have their tracks that play while I made this. Visor being introduced in Quake 3 meant that it was finally time for me to bring in some themes/motifs from its OST.

I've always mentally associated the idea of flesh twisted with metal with really low tuned guitars (a la Meshuggah), and combined with the industrial grime of Sonic Mayhem's Quake 3 OST, this is how I'd present Visor in the modern era.

By the way, despite appearances, Visor is NOT strogg. :P
