"Founded in 2021, Dark Heaven is a Chicago based event company and collective focused on curating immersive experiences with underground electronic artists, installation/visual artists, and queer performance artists. With bookings from the likes of Matrixxman, Nikki Nair, Overland, Ariel Zetina, Sard, Beau Wanzer, and kryptogram, Dark Heaven thrives in DIY spaces but has also made rounds in the club circuit, most recently at Smartbar and Podlasie Club. In late 2022, co-founder and artist Vorp, with the help of collective partner follidh, began curating La Chasse, translating to “the hunt” in French, launching Dark Heaven as a record label with a various artist compilation album.

The night was young but it already seemed ever so frantic and free in the club. It was as if they had already been there for hours as they danced and moved between the flickering lights as smoke began to fill the air. From the corner of his eye he watched as fellow dancers and revellers continued to file down the stairs and into the murky abyss below.

Perhaps this was his favourite time of the night? The quiet calm before the storm – the music loud but not yet punishing, the pace moody and slow in time with his swaying hips.

He watched as the world beneath became busier and one by one the people came and went. This was a special place, that much was true. Perhaps 10-11 was the best time of all?

Redstone Press continue in the pursuit of leftfield Bass music and harder sounds – the next EP on the label coming from Tano and featuring remixes by the likes of Toumba and Delay Grounds. This one features off piste rhythms and percussion – keeping the energy flowing in the best and weirdest of ways.

Slim Shae (@slimshaemusic), a native and true representative of Manchester, steps up for the latest edition of Reptoid Radio with a vinyl only, dark and dirty electro mix showing his penchant for chopping and blending tunes and his top quality track selection.

With some honourable experience under his belt, playing numerous times at the likes of Wire Club, Leeds, Shae continues to push his free-flowing, genre-hopping sound across the UK -  but notably, Shae has expanded his reach beyond local borders, securing his first international booking in Belgium and recently played in countries such as Mexico, Nicaragua, and Colombia while travelling through Latin America.

At just 24 years old, he is the founder of his own independent record label, @bricksweatrecords, which has been making waves in the electronic music scene. Similar to his DJ style, the record label continues to push a variety of genres from both up-and-coming and well-known artists from across the world. 

If you like what you hear, tonight (7th August) also marks the end of Brick Sweat's residency on Manchester's Unity Radio 92.8FM - tune in 11pm till 1am if you're up for a party. Big tip from the Lizard Tapes crew on this. 

Brick Sweat has a bright future ahead of it, with a load of releases scheduled in the months ahead. Shae also hopes to run a party series in the future - so Manchester locals keep your eyes peeled for announcements.
