After 21 years of DJing, I played at my friends’ wedding for the very first time. The night before, I asked the groom what kind of tracks they liked. He just said, “Didn’t you see the Telegram group with the wedding playlists as inspiration?” I hadn’t. My week was so fully packed but when I finally checked, I found the group buried between ominous Berlin afterhour chats — and was stunned to see that the bride and groom had carefully prepared 80 danceable tracks for us DJs.

So I started building my set around their selection. There was plenty of overlap with my own library, especially with a lot of classics from the time of the rising of Berlin's electronic music scene.  I bought a few songs I didn’t have already, and then added another 100 from my collection. While preparing, I got goosebumps. The love in that music reminded me exactly why I became a DJ in the first place: to share songs with friends and craft compilations meant especially for one person — or, in this case, two.

The wedding itself was so beautiful I could have cried. And I did. Right after the very first transition, when I looked up and saw the couple dancing together deeply in love in the front row. From then on it was pure bliss — everyone swept up inside the warm bubble of love’s magic.

Wir haben diesen Oktober wieder alle ein Date zusammen.😍
