Mark Reeve makes his welcome return to the Drumcode fold with a powerful three-tracker ‘Far Away’.

In recent years Mark Reeve has become a pivotal member of the Drumcode crew. His 2015 EP ‘Run Back’ was a standout, before he backed it up strongly with ‘Nine of You’, his collaboration with Adam Beyer that featured on A-Sides Vol.5, ensuring his place in the hearts of DC fans. As further evidence of his importance to the collective, Beyer has selected him to suit up for the inaugural Drumcode Festival happening this August in association with Awakenings. 

Harking back to formative times in the ‘90s when he’d frequent Sven Väth’s legendary Omen in Frankfurt, the title track to Reeve’s ‘Far Away’ is a timeless beauty, driven by a celestial melody line and emotive bass notes that lobs it into the kind of laser-kissed territory that would make even the most jaded of raves throw their arms skyward. ‘Fragile’ follows, a classy bass-driven cut that makes its mark with deep subterranean stabs and punchy kicks. Rounding out the EP is ‘Redemption’ a tougher, heads-down techno workout imbued with plenty of energy thanks to a crafty bass melody that runs throughout.

In-demand producer Flashmob delivers a masterful two-piece assault on his Hot Creations debut, entitled The Lone Brazilian.

The EP opens with the title track, fronting a funk-laden bassline and percussive, driving drums. Tribalistic male and female chants break the track up, adding depth to the unfolding journey. Next up, Lower Level supplies a deeper trip. A tight, assertive drum track counterparts a short, wandering bassline to form a settled, rolling feel.

Italian artist Flashmob, real name Alessandro Magani, is a renowned producer and remixer, label owner and touring DJ. Since 2011 he’s released on the world’s biggest labels, such as Get Physical, Defected, Kompakt, Snatch!, to name a few, and now delivers his bespoke sound for Hot Creations.

After bursting onto the scene in late 2017, Hyperloop makes his Drumcode debut with Green Velvet in toe. 

Followers of Truesoul will be clued up on the quality one can expect from Hyperloop. Last October he marked the label’s 100th with ‘In The Loop’, a superb three-tracker that signalled his arrival on the scene and highlighted a stunning year for the label. As 2018 picks up pace, Hyperloop returns with a tougher follow up for Drumcode. 

His ‘Mentalizm’ EP is a classy example of his versatility, a trio of original works, accompanied by two DJ tools. Beginning on a menacing tip, ‘In Your Mind (Reflections)’ is a low-end brew of industrial stabs, eerie melodies and subterranean vocals. ‘S-Sound’ is his collaboration with Chicago legend Green Velvet and is a percussive masterstroke of loops and drum riffs which drive the eight-minute track with all the puffing ferocity of a steam train. ‘Spring on the Battlefield’ is the perfect contrasting accompaniment, as a warm rush of strings covers a bed of intricate analogue effects and stomping kicks.

Alan Fitzpatrick led his label We Are The Brave into 2018, with the first release of the year ‘The Colour Of A Dream’. After a hugely successful 2017, the label has pumped out some epic dance bombs from Boxia, Darius Syrossian, Skober, Reset Robot and Gary Beck, whilst bringing new names into the limelight with Leonardo and Kevin De Vries. With Alan Fitzpatrick’s Day Festival a sold out success back in March, expect more bangin’ parties to be coming your way, bringing with them a whole heap of We Are The Brave’s finest talent. 2018 is gonna be a belter!

“The mood and sound that We Are The Brave delivers, is innovative” says Frankyeffe, the latest artist announcing his debut this May with ‘Fire’. The Italian producer drops two original tracks on this release. The title track ‘Fire’ has a chunky synth which cuts through the energetic bassline, before it travels into a lighter tone, incorporating some eurphoric-esque touches alongside a unique vocal effect. 

"I knew this was going to be a phat release for the label as soon as I first heard 'Fire'. It properly goes off every single time I play it. Very unique with a massive vibe.” Says Alan 

‘Gate’ offers something a little different, strongly influenced by Franky’s background in the progressive and trance movements of the 90’s, it has that trance vibe to it. “I love how 'Gate' manages to be both trancey and jacking at the same time. Such a bomb!" Adds Alan. The vocal holds special place on this track, it’s hypnotic and uplifting all in one.

Double dose of dance on this release. Big room sound alongside old school inspired rave vibes – what more could you ask for?

PREMIERE: Frankyeffe - Fire (Original Mix) [We Are The Brave]

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

Up there as one of the best to ever do it, the pioneer from Detroit has been constantly evolving and transforming for over two decades. 

His work as Floorplan with his daughter Lyric shows off his more melodic, gospel side but under his real name, he's always specialised in high-octane, no-holds-barred techno. 

His latest EP on his label M-Plant is a weighty three-tracker that perfectly showcases why Hood is still at the top of his game.

Up next on Hot Creations is the hugely influential Leftroom Records boss, Matt Tolfrey. Well known for bringing fire to the dancefloor as well as to his productions, this punchy two-parter is no exception.

On title track Americas, Tolfrey delivers a peak-time slice of rolling electronic goodness with pounding pads that bounce around the percussion, with a drum and vocal loop that lure you in. Regain The Past is laden with throbbing bass and subtle vocal stabs that gently caress your ear before thrusting you headfirst into the break.

Matt Tolfrey has come a long way since his musical journey began. Spotted by Craig Richards and invited to play at his fabric night, this culminated in the honour of recording fabric 81. Since then Tolfrey has become a mainstay in the scene.
