Tawny Owl (Strix aluco)

A fox is looking for a partner and the fox's cry echoes in the night. At the end a Ural owl can be heard in the background.

I recorded 2 wolfs that howl this evening...
They where a bit to far away, but the recording ended up ok (not very good) I think.
I was actually recording (trying to...) a beaver that gnaws on a tree, but the microphone was 30 meters upstream the beaver. Then I heard and recorded the wolfs. I walked away from the stream towards the wolfs and i got another recording without the water sound so they can be heard more clearly. This is th esecond recording without the water sound. Unfourtenately they moved away from me so the sound got weaker and weaker.

A Common Goldeneye is making his mating sound and you can also hear the "breathing" sound just before the "grumble" sound. Frogs is also present.

I have recorded a bat with a standard mic, so it's not as good as you would get with a ultrasound mic or a bat detector of some kind.
I used a Audio Technica AT4022 in a Telinga parabolic dish.
I recorded in 192000Hz adn then lowered it by ten times so It's possible to hear the bat.

Common Quail (Vaktel) is calling. There is a second one in the background and also a Marsh Warbler (Kärrsångare) and Common Grasshopper Warbler (Gräshoppsångare)  singing.

Common Quail (Coturnix coturnix)

Marsh Warbler (Kärrsångare) often imitates other birds. It has often a very varying song. You can also hear Common Quail (Vaktel) and Common Grasshopper Warbler (gräshoppsångare) in the background.

Common Blackbird (Koltrast) singing and there is also a Common Cuckoo (Gök (Cuculus canorus)) in the background. Recorded at midnight on an island on the east coast of Sweden 20km north of Stockholm.

A couple of distant Yellowhammer (Gulsparv) (Emberiza citrinella) can be heard, and also a Common Wood Pigeon (Ringduva) (Columba palumbus).

Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) (Gråtrut) doesn't like my presence close to a lake in the middle of the forrest. You can also hear a Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos)(Drillsnäppa), Common Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus)(Gök) among others.
It was a calm and early morning just after some rain.

Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus)(Rådjur) "barking" when he discover that I was there. I was recording the Common Grasshopper Warbler, so I was sitting down on the ground in the grass so the roe deer couldn't see me. I didn't see him either so I was surprised too...
Listen to the grasshopper warbler and you can hear that he briefly stops to sing when the roe deer barks, at least the first barks when he is close.
You can also hear a Tawny owl chick in the background.

Lapwing (Tofsvipa, Vanellus vanellus) is flying around an early morning. A Common Buzzard (Ormvråk, Buteo buteo) and a Common Cuckoo (Gök, Cuculus canorus) can also be heard among others.

One beaver is eating when another beaver comes by and they start to "talk" to each other. It sounds kind of funny...
Their breathing sound can be heard as well.

The rut (mating season) is here for the Red deer (Kronhjort). The highlight will be in about two weeks. This is a short example on how it can sound.

Wolves hunt down and kill their prey. A Wild boar in this case. You can also hear Red Deer.

Here is the story before the recording starts.

I was out photographing/recording. It was late, but the full moon helped lighting up my surroundings. I had the recorder in rec/pause and my headphones on, so all sounds around me was amplified like I usually have. Since I was trying to photograph animals. I was camouflaged. I rarely use a hide. Suddenly I heard that the ducks, lapwings and other birds to the left of me, flew up in the air worried about something. I looked in that direction with my binocular and then I saw two wolves coming in my direction. They were about 200m from me. The female (smaller) was about 50m ahead of the male. She stopped when she was about 40m from me a little to the left. She probably “sensed” that I was there… She sat down and looked around. The male wolf came straight at me since he was to the right of the female from my view. He stopped at about 30m from me. He stared at me or in my direction for 5 minutes… I was leaning to the left in a not so comfort position so I said to myself, please go now… my back hurts, but he didn’t. Instead, he lay down in the grass… and he continued staring at me (or my not camouflaged mic). I was completely still and after a few minutes he started to look around instead. The female passed him and lay down further away to the right of me. After 10-15 minutes he joined her. They changed positions a few times and seemed to be in no hurry. Then the female started to target a red deer bull. She crawled on her stomach closer and closer. The male followed about 30m behind her. She got closer and closer and when she had about 50m left to the red deer she got in to full attack. The male wolf followed and they both attacked the red deer bull. The deer defended himself really well with his big horns. He attacked the wolves so they had to back off a few times. The wolves continued their attack from two directions for a while, but then they gave up and lay down in the grass. After a while they tried again, but the deer still defended himself really well. He didn’t make the mistake to try and run. They gave up again and the walked away to the edge of the field and lay down just inside the forest. After about 20 minutes I heard a familiar sound. Wild boar heard was incoming…

Here my posted recording at soundcloud starts, since there was just breathing sounds and sounds when wolves and deer move in the grass previously, so not much to listen to.

A Capercaillie is "singing" during the lek/courting season. Jumping around and making noise with his wings. If you listen carefully when he's not making wing noise, you can hear a very low base tone during the scraping/sizzling part of his "song".
