Test recording with MS mics comprising AKG CK93 mid mic and AKG CK94 side mic. Recorded with Sound Devices Mixpre-3 with same gain on both mics. Sounds of birdsong in Norfolk village garden, then a car arrives and driver gets out and closes gate (footsteps).

AKG CK94 ambient test

This version of the traditional bluegrass song 'Sugar Honey Baby' (aka 'Red Rocking Chair' and various other titles) has been recorded by the Time and Mercy Band placed around a single pair of mics (a mid-side pair comprising a cardioid mid mic and a fig 8 side mic).  It forms part of a series of tests with pre-production versions of the Sennheiser MKH 8030 and the Rycote BD-10 fig 8 mics. In this recording the MKH 8030 was used in combination with its sibling cardioid mic (MKH 8040) as a mid-side pair, to produce the stereo track. There has been no processing of the sound: no reverb, compression etc.
