Slot Machine feat. Aydo Abay is settled in a colorful mixture of genres, styles and semblances to familiar sounds. The song floats between the sacred chanting of classic film soundtracks, 80’sdisco basslines and vocoders, as well as pianos and reversed guitars derived from 2010’salternative rock, a dramatic odyssey between Hans Zimmer, Pet Shop Boys and Radiohead. One can clearly hear the reference to the duo’s past as musicians in – and fans of – several indie post and progressive rock bands. Especially when the vocals of Aydo Abay, one of the most characteristic voices in German indie and alternative rock, well-known for being front man of bands like Blackmail, Ken, Abay, Freindz or Musa Dagh, set in. ‘You are somewhere I am in between’ could be the words of the song itself, as it is hard to determine its classification. Nevertheless, it all makes sense, as all the obscure elements form a harmonious interplay that is emotional and uplifting at the same time. Mala Ika strips down the original to its bones and creates a sunrise soundtrack for early morning hours using a subtle bassline and a reduced drum set. Wiener Planquadrat go the opposite direction with their remix by keeping many elements of the original and adding some aggressive acid lines for some extra pressure. With two remixes rounding up the EP on both ends, the second single EP of Oberst & Buchner’s upcoming album pays tribute to their versatile musical past.

1) What is your favorite book to read?, 
I love Audre Lorde’s essays. I always come back to essays by her, and other inspiring writers whenever I feel lost or disheartened about the world.

2)  If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have? I would like to have the power of bewilderment at life and at the universe, to have the mindset of a child more often. I feel like children are such incredible humans, we should learn from their superpowers more often. 

3) What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)? I think I was at Fusion 2016. I took so much LSD that I stayed awake for about 36 hours. I was so trippy, I was scared of my own sleep so I stayed up for as long as the trip lasted.

Norlyz are all about combining the warmth and fragility of acoustic instrumentation, with the precision and power of electronics.

And this is showcased brilliantly on 'Djembe' - a track built on a captivating, arp-led back-bone; allowing its perfectly-poised, rhythmic brass; deft, drum work and gently fizzing synths to add that all important character detail.

Switching things up a little on the flip - 'Eltanin' sees the guys dishing us up a heavily groove-based, percussive roller. But one that - as with its predecessor - too draws subtly upon the worlds of House, Techno, World Music and Jazz, to lend its proceedings a uniquely rich and vital flavour.

Also on the package are a killer pair of 'Eltanin' re-rubs by Mollono.Bass. One features the dream-inducing vocal talents of JPatterson; whilst the other - opts to strip things back to its instrumental core, so to allow the lush tapestry of psychelicious electronics on display - to shine brighter still.

Barcelona based DJ & producer Eren Erdol drops a new two track release on Audiofly’s Flying Circus label, bringing some delectable house sounds on the ‘El Pueblo’ single. Originally from Istanbul, Erdol’s musical journey started young, learning to play the piano
and drums from a tender age and having a deep connection with music of many genres. His ventures in the electronic dance realm have afforded well received releases for labels such as Epic, NDYD Records as well as his own Petra Recordings imprint which has also hosted releases and remixes from the likes of Joeski, John Tejada, Swayzak and Heiko Laux. The drifting melodic tones that open ‘El Pueblo’ set the tone here, as a chugging tempo is established, and deft musical inflections glide over the percussive rhythm, bringing with it a sedate and enriching atmosphere. Accompanying track ‘Hay Sabados’ sits in a similar tempo, as Erdol teases out more reflective harmonies and transcendental melodies over a minimal yet punchy beat.

NORLYZ is the further development of the duo SCHATTENSPIEL, where producer Paul David Heckhausen combined live cello with electronic dance music and brought it on stage as an audiovisual experience. 
SCHATTENSPIEL played frequently on festivals like Distortion Copenhagen (DK), Eurosonic (NL) or Detect Classic at Funkhaus Berlin as well as club shows at Sisyphos and Mensch Meier Berlin to mention a few. Several singles as well as an EP were released on the labels "Rebellion der Träumer" and "Traum Schallplatten" in the past years.
