The follow-up to last year's 'NQ State of Mind' mix project is headed by two of The North Quarter's most enduring artists: Redeyes and Fox. Mixtapes represent an important symbol of the formative years of many of the artists on this Amsterdam-based label and so it's only right that the tradition is continued by Redeyes and Fox, who both have a long history as music enthusiasts. Consisting solely of TNQ music - including 10 exclusives - this is NQ State of Mind, Vol 2.

  Throughout 31 tracks, mixed by 'smooth operator' Redeyes and backed with Fox's uplifting vocals, this is a journey through The North Quarter's five year catalogue. All artists that make the label the respected entity it is today are featured as well as some unexpected faces. The 10 exclusive tracks will be released on a 2x12” gatefold LP to accompany the mix.

Kotahitanga is a Māori word meaning unity, togetherness, and solidarity. It celebrates diversity, collective action, and the beauty of coming together as one. For us, this concept resonates deeply with the creative spirit of Aotearoa, especially within the underground scene.

The title track is an ode to Twisted Frequency Festival, which we feel embodies the essence of Kotahitanga through its vibrant, inclusive, and creative community. This project is also a love letter to where we grew up—Motueka and the Tasman region. These songs carry the feeling of summers there: sun-soaked, carefree, and alive with the energy of raves that shaped our youth.

We’re also honoured to feature two incredibly talented wahine who are dear friends of ours, as well as our friend Lotu, who features on “Better Things,” the second track. Their voices and artistry add a layer of connection and celebration to this release, making it all the more meaningful.

Kotahitanga is a reflection of our roots, our community, and the timeless magic of music bringing people together. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
