It’s been nothing but an upwards trajectory for the Renaissance UK platform recently. Fresh off the back of hitting 2000 Soundcloud followers (congratulations by the way guys!), they’ve curated a brand new, fully stacked compilation to celebrate, and oh boy have they gone in on this one. Bringing together some of the brightest young guns in grassroots Drum & Bass including Esoro, Housty, Pulsate, 9MM, PKT, XDBR, Rayn, Bennie, Wrekka, D Flex, Ratso, Vex and Guidoyz, the Renaissance team have proved their strong penchant for solid A&R, locking down some of the most promising talents about and providing them with the perfect place to showcase their talents, both as a collective and as individuals.

We’ve had the pleasure of premiering Bennie & Wrekka’s supreme collaborative effort that goes by the name of ‘Leatherface’ which is suitably poised, dropping just after the Halloween festivities. The two hotshots have both been smashing it as of late, and it’s safe to say that trend continues in fine style here. 

‘Leatherface’ is one of the most advanced tracks we’ve heard so far from both Bennie & Wrekka, showing a technical prowess and maturity that’s sometimes rare for artists climbing the Drum & Bass ladder. That clean, gritty, bass-driven soundscape is on full show here, but it’s fused mesmerisingly with sharp, cascading breaks and a wounding, eerie vocal sample that really adds a cinematic feel to the whole experience. It’s really stellar work. This, coupled with some cracking synthesis and stonecold, superlative leads on the drop make this track wholly unique, whilst still incorporating a metric tonne of that grimey dancefloor-reaching sludge. Absolutely spot on from all involved - we can’t wait to see what’s up next.
