After outings on Viper Recordings and RAM Records alongside Chords and the man himself PULS∆R in 2020. Hitting the BBC Dance Anthems Chart with The Melody Men on 'Light It Up'. Over 136,000 plays via UKF and a staggering 400,000 plays on Spotify and counting... Plus neumerous amont of online streams on a Friday. The lads know as NORTH BASE are back with brand new music after nearly 6 years away from their home label Nemesis Recordings, and we are so happy for their return.

Once again, they bring along their brother and top-notch producer PULS∆R to the fray. As we know PULS∆R is no new comer to the Drum & Bass scene. With hits such as ‘Be Free’, ‘Overtape’, ‘Move it’ and the outstanding ‘Euphoria’ which was featured on the F.A cup semi-final few years back. Dima aka PULS∆R / Green Vibes is also formally 1/2 of the drum & bass group CYNEMATIC. He is setting the stage for big things in 2021 and beyond,with an album in the pipeline later in the year it's a good time to get to know this talented producer.

The reasons why brand-new drum & bass duo Shanks want to remain anonymous are entirely based around their music. They’re not here to create mystery, but they’re here instead to build a path led entirely by the quality of the tracks they produce. Despite both their historic backgrounds which stretch through a particular scene’s pivotal involvement within electronic music, they’ve decided to embark on a journey which focuses more on expanding a catalogue which is as diverse as it is expertly created. And their current ethos is to stand behind these sounds instead of in front of them, ensuring the core of what they build is what turns heads, rather than a superficial image they’ve engineered for themselves. It's what has led to them garnering attention from tastemakers even within their infancy – and now to their debut EP ‘The Outer Limits’ on ProgRAM.

Title-track ‘The Outer Limits’ dives in headfirst with its all-out sonic artillery, meanwhile ‘My Level’ stands firm with its blaring LFOs and tumbling breaks. ‘The Underground’ drops in fast and hard alongside stabs of percussive and crackling bass tones, as the EP pulls itself together alongside ‘F**k You’ and it’s old-school flavour. So once again, it’s time to get with the ProgRAM. This time for a masterclass with Shanks, despite it only being the very first step in their journey.

Jimmy relaunched Beat Assassins in 2016 having had previous success between 2006 & 2010 with Joe Lenzie of Sigma. Since then Beat Assassins have had over 20 releases on various drum & bass labels such as Viper Recordings, Jungle Cakes, Dope Ammo, Gorilla Warefare, Wonky Goose and Jimmy's own label Mofo Recordings. It was only a matter of time before some demos from BA arrived in Toronto Is Broken's inbox for YANA Music.

"The System" is a straight up middle finger to authority, mirrored by the all-out aggression running throughout the track.

Beat Assassins - The System

Released originally on Jay Cunning's Sub Slayers imprint back in 2012, Toronto Is Broken's debut "Move It" EP turns a whole 10 years old!

Christian Hoffmann, then 18, dropped this EP at the height of the Future Jungle movement, merging old school rave and jungle with then modern production techniques of dubstep and d&b at 140bpm. The release made a massive impact on the bass music scene, most notably with "Spirit Song 2012" which was supported by everyone from Sub Focus, to Paul Oakenfold and The Crystal Method to Netsky. The track was also officially licenced as the main theme at Boomtown Festival's Arcadia Spectacular showcase for a number of years, becoming an official anthem of the festival.

A decade on, TIB has released 3 full length studio albums, "Section Nine" (2015 Sub Slayers)", "You Are (Not) Alone" (2018 Viper Recordings) & "Clare" (2020 YANA Music) shifting his sound from multi-genre bass music to a blend of modern metal and dancefloor drum & bass, creating a true identity to his sound. As well as releasing on a whole range of big labels such as Viper, RAM, Technique and even Republic records. As well as now running his own label YANA Music, Christian has found his home with US metal / electronic crossover label FiXT.

To commemorate the release, it only felt right for things to go full circle and be celebrated on Toronto Is Broken's own imprint YANA Music, with remixes from three of it's upcoming stars, Lateral, Mojay & Corrupted Mind, artists of whom are in a similar position to where TIB was 10 years prior. The EP also features the original mixes from the EP, as well as "Spirit Song 2017" which was a 5-year anniversary rendition of "Spirit Song 2012" originally released on Sub Slayer's 50th release.
