By learning from trees about how to remain grounded during hard times, we can better access our own inner nourishment so that we may reach new heights spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Raices serves as a reminder for us to stay rooted in order to remain balanced and grow – even in the face of difficult times or obstacles.

This time, a very diverse release with ample room for creative and sonorous experimentation while diving deep in the exploriation and interpretation of our relations with nature through the music. Besides, an extract from the book 'Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants' by Robin Wall Kimmerer

'...In the Western tradition there is a recognized hierarchy of beings, with, of course, the human being on top-the pinnacle of evolution, the darling of Creation-and the plants at the bottom. But in Native ways of knowing, human people are often referred to as 'the younger brothers of Creation.' We say that humans have the least experience with how to live and thus the most to learn-we must look to our teachers among the other species for guidance. Their wisdom is apparent in the way that they live. They teach us by example. They've been on the earth far longer than we have been, and have had time to figure things out. They live both above and below ground, joining Skyworld to the earth. Plants know how to make food and medicine from light and water, and then they give it away.

I like to imagine that when Skywoman scattered her handful of seeds across Turtle Island, she was sowing sustenance for the body and also for the mind, emotion, and spirit: she was leaving us teachers. The plants can tell us her story; we need to learn to listen....'

Northallsen Podcast 003 - Ricardo Garduno

Born in Bogota, Colombia, Aleja Sanchez is behind our sixth Northallsen Podcast.  Active in the techno scene since 2007, a mental and deep but forceful sound combined with a natural penchant for experimental and diverse soundscapes with raw lines have laid the foundations for her to develop a highly unique musical voice into the International techno circuit.

This aesthetic applies to her DJ sets and explains why she has been invited to direct the booths in places like Tresor.Berlin (Germany), Stardust (Spain), Razzmatazz (Spain), Perpetum (Czech Republic), Flex (Austria), Sound Deparment (Italy) among others.
As a producer Aleja Sanchez is not only a regular contributor to Nachtstrom Schallplatten and Planet Rhythm but also a fundamental piece of Illegal Alien Records and the label head of Northallsen records. With an experimental hypnotic and fused techno and a gentle and melancholic ambient current she reveals her stylized and unique sound.

Long musical history of Sqeef began in childhood and was started from playing the piano. After several years of performing as a pianist, classical music becames not enough for him and he cames into electronic music. From Rome, Italy Gianluca Meloni aka Laertes is the wonderful artist behind our new Northallsen Podcast episode.

Pioneer in the 90′s, Gianluca Meloni was able to insert electronic seeds into an underground scene mainly ruled progressive rock; his most important contribution in that period was to the album “Strani Sogni” of the band SIG V, CNI Music -Italy.

Later, Gianluca would meet with Dino Sabatini to create the “Modern Heads” project, leading both of them to play in some of the most prestigious clubs around the globe as Panorama Bar in Berlin, Brancaleone in Rome and Macumba, Madrid, AIR Tokyo, FUSE in Bruxelles, just to list few.

Some years later Gianluca together with Carlo Alfano became the founder of the project “notfromearth“, expanding his artistic view into a very well crafted new Audio & Video concept, publishig their work in Prologue label.

In 2015, Gianluca start new Solo project named Laertes, inspired by the research of electronic music through the modular synthesis and passion for live improvisation, in which reason in his live set will always find vintage analog instruments, and modern technology. His music have been presented in labels such a Outis Music, Concrete Records and Mental Modern.

Alan Backdrop is the brilliant mind behind our new Northallsen Podcast Episode.

Alan Backdrop, has been alluring his listeners through his productions characterized with deep atmospheres and a mixture of different genres. Simply put, Alan’s fascination is a reflection of his passion for electronic music and inspiration he gets from the world around.

He is the kind of producer that certainly enjoys his studio jam sessions—this is the reason why he spends most of the time in his studio tweaking knobs on synthesizers, recording and experimenting with the aim to capture and create his exceptional sound.

Alan Backdrop released his debut album, VR Plan, in 2013 on Prologue, an album that includes some of his pioneering tracks, such as “Cherber,” “Medel,” and “Siere.” Shortly, he managed to create his second album, Eria, released in 2014 on Ekar Records, label and platform with which he has a long-lasting relationship and where he released a big part of his discography. He recently joined Mental Modern and Semantica Records where he kicked out some 12".

Alessio's side project is a_000, born from the unprompted come across of him and Enrico Rlt, which resulted in the creation of "Road to Nauta", the very first wax from Ekar Records and "Ness Reworks 001", a 12" containing two original tracks plus two remixes from the label founder and friend Ness.

In addition to spending most of the time in his studio, Alan Backdrop performs in various festivals—the latest in which he performed were Modem Festival and Parallel— and in different clubs and musical events. Fascinated by electronic music and concentrated in the realization of atmospheric musical journeys is the best way to describe Alan Backdrop.

Bosnia-born,  Sev Dah is the astonishing mind behind our new Northallsen Podcast.

Berlin, Detroit, Birmingham and, of course, Sarajevo.
Bosnian-built and -bred Sev Dah may be a Swedish expat, but the Balkan blackness clings strongly to the bleak percussions and rigidly uneasy synthetics that unwillingly fuse into his strongly individual take on techno. Authentically purveying the pulsations of the nakedly throbbing and ugly world, far away from Starbucks and H&M.

Signed to respected labels such as Random Island, Mote-Evolver, Komisch and Frozen Border sublabel Naked Index he quickly gnawed his way into the scene’s core of DJs and producers. Sev is even managing new projects on his own label Proletarijat since 2016. Like a rabid mongrel, since 1998 he has been chewing and belching new bastard beats that are aching to scream out. Consequently there’s a steaming and steady stream of vinyl releases coming.

With influences ranging from Stigmata and Mills to Master Reese and Petar Dundov, Sev Dah is a versatile but headstrong DJ that can gently ease a thumb in at midnight or fervently thrust it down the hatch at peak time.

From Berlin, Germany, Denise Rabe is the wonderful mind behind our our new Northallsen Podcast.

Denise is a pragmatic grounded artist with a clear vision. Her passion for music has led her to be involved in the scene on many levels; whether it has been as a booker for Berlin venue Ipse; a radio show host for the city’s Sweatlodge channel or a club promoter for her own night HIDE and SEEK at “Humboldthain”.
her first 12” on German imprint Mutewax in 2015. A solo EP on Arts sub label Arts Collective quickly succeeded her debut the same year, leading up to the label publishing her third release in 2017. This is also the year Denise actualized her own eponymous label Rabe. September 2019 she announced her EP „Manifesto“ on the well established label Stroboscopic Artefacts.

Rabe the label, just like its founder, is all about techno. So far, three hyper modern brutalist sounding 12-inches from Denise herself has seen the light of day. Rabe’s productions are frantic yet deep industrial adventures, all carrying a hefty gothic presence. Her talent has not only caught the ears of eager fans, but also of recognized producers such as Rrose and Shxcxchcxsh, who both have contributed remixes for the artist.
