An epic fanfare for 4 trumpets with orchestral accompaniment.  Visions of space and interstellar travel were the starting points for inspiration.  I composed the trumpet parts in this work to fall within the range and ability of good young trumpet players - to give them something grand, bold and dramatic to play!

The symphonies of Gustav Mahler have been a lifelong and deep source of inspiration for me.  Discovering his works played a huge part in provoking what has become a lifelong passion for music for me.  I want to state that disclaimer in case anyone misunderstands my intentions in posting this track, which is just a bit a fun and a little experiment for me.

Here I've taken a few very specific snapshots of sound from two of my favourite recordings of Mahler's symphonies.  The samples used are brief moments, maybe just a single chord, that have always stood out to my ears as entirely unique points where that specific orchestra and conductor, at that specific time, created a unique and unrepeatable colour of tone.

For whatever reason, my hip hop/industrial head imagined a very different context for these sounds to be experienced.  I could just hear that weight of sound and sheer orchestral intensity in another context.

Can you identify which symphonies the samples are taken from?  Bonus points for guessing the orchestra and conductor!
