Introducing Major Impact
Major Impact is Mickey Clarke and Andy Oppenheimer.
Mickey Clarke, member of seminal London electropunk outfit Naked Lunch in the early eighties who released a track on the ground-breaking Some Bizarre Album. Since then he has recorded and released under a variety of names on labels such as Hardware, Full Circle, Global Underground and Streetsounds. Currently recording and remixing as Iron Blu. He joined forces with singer/songwriter and bomb expert Andy Oppenheimer, formerly with pioneering 1980s synth-pop duo Oppenheimer Analysis, in 2011.

Major Impact’s first EP, Love and War, features mind-blowing club tracks Until the Next Time – a song of unrequited passion - and Catch Up With Me – which ventures onto the wild side of the taunting insurgent – each guaranteed to pack the dance floor.

Alongside classic minimal wave versions of each track, Love and War features two stunning remixes by Iron Blu and by fellow producer Clive Pierce, of hard Corps, which ignite both songs with the atmospheric and threatening dimension of an action movie soundtrack.

A dreamy electronic mashup, put together by Wraetlic, better known as Alex Smoke - “it’s a representative selection of the music which has excited me over the last year or so, and it was nice to be able to construct a DJ mix with no limit on genre. There’s no master-plan in terms of the tone of the mix, but I tend to veer towards the murkier end of the musical spectrum. It’s one of the only mixes I’ve done digitally, as all my vinyl is in storage while I move cities, but it suits this mix of styles anyway. Particularly strong artists for me this year or so have been Hype Williams, Colin Stetson and Actress and they’re all represented one way or another.”
