“cowboy’s gonna do it", written, produced and performed by 21 year old singer/songwriter and producer Alex Kehm, is an indie-pop/folk project to which is described by Kehm as 'not a project of undying love & romance; rather, an anti-hero to what I have experienced love to be — the perpetual state of nuance in which my refusal to sit in has beckoned me into states of immaturity, which is documented within these songs.' 

Throughout their musicianship, Kehm has explored recurring themes in their songwriting and production, including the exploration of self-identity, the complexities of companionship within unrequited love, and heartbreak. Influenced by musicians such as Billie Eilish, Joni Mitchell, and Bon Iver, Alex Kehm's storytelling through their lyrical pieces follows well beyond their years.

A quiet, cinematic folk piece built around the question of what a poppy’s colour truly means. Gentle strings and acoustic tones carry a poem of memory, sacrifice, and the weight we still carry. A reflection on war, loss, and the colours we choose to hold. Lets not fight over the colour !!

lush is a story about falling in love so deeply that it stops feeling like love and starts turning into an obsession. the album follows the moment where passion becomes a mirror, where i lose myself inside someone else’s world. every song lives in that blur between devotion and self-destruction.

as the relationship unravels, i start questioning her beliefs, her intentions, and eventually my own sanity. i realize i’ve shrunk myself to fit something toxic, and i begin to understand that i’m better than the person this love is turning me into. i’m still in it, but i’m already imagining the version of me that walks away.

when it finally ends, i’m left with a heartbreak that’s soft, desperate, confused. i still love her. i still miss her. but i also know myself too well. i’m gonna go out, meet someone new, fall too fast again, and repeat the cycle i never learned to break.

lush is the loop of love, obsession, clarity, loss, and rebirth. it's me trying to escape a pattern i’m addicted to.
