NOSE JOB 34 — NIC ARIZONA

Vienna-based https://soundcloud.com/misonica loves to watch the moon. She's addicted to Italian coffee since the age of six, when her mum made her caffè latte with extra sugar. She traveled the seven continents, only skydiving on her first trip. She's a strong selector sweeping through time and space and pointing towards the future. She played around Europe, and released tunes on Therapy Flowers and Diapason/Sameheads. She was part of Femdex, highlighting female identifying DJs and producers, and had a monthly residency 'Imbroglio' on Noods Radio (Bristol). At the moment she's dreaming very intensely and quite often wakes up crying, but still she loves to sleep.

She starts the mix moody, then gets more sensual and delicate. Halfway she raises the pace and intensity, then ends with the scent of magnolia.

« This musical trip was recorded at MANTA in Lisbon, where I am currently doing a residency. The days are longer and brighter than in my hometown Vienna. The light in this city is unlike at home, it feels and affects me differently. Nowadays she's in Cologne, a molecular biologist and works in research, trying to tackle down secrets of mitochondria, or the main factories of energy in our bodies. While working in the lab, she listens to lots of music, focused and entranced. She started collecting in 1989, but only plays in public since 2019. Aside she's also a photographer, hoarding cameras from the 80s or older, and mostly interested in capturing timeless moments. Whenever she wakes up, she needs 2 hours on her own. And she's a real proper coffee freak, bad one gets her all itchy and scratchy.

After a crazy intro, the mix takes off and swallows you up, before spitting you out. A deliciously dubby and intergalactic concoction, a fearlessly atmospheric blend, groovy, delay-laden, quirky, stargazing. Eyes wide shut.....

NOSE JOB 36 — MARIJANA CROON

https://soundcloud.com/philipp-otterbach was one of the first resident at Salon des Amateurs, before moving to Berlin. Together with Vladimir Ivkovic, they organized the Substance parties. Since 2014 he released music on labels like Grokenberger, Knekelhuis, Themes For Great Cities, brokntoys, and remixed quite a few peeps. In 2020 he dropped his debut album 'Everything Else Matters' on R.i.O. Nowadays he divides his time between being a creative director for Ui / UX Design and producing music, and still enjoys to travel around with old records to play in front of a young crowd.

He just finished exercise 5/10 from his book: back to social life. 5 more to go. The mix is also kind of reappraisal, because he was forced to listen to a goa version of AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' on a festival lately. Anyhow, this one's a special treat. Taking off gently, one gets quickly sucked in and seduced by all kinds of obscure and exquisite, wicked and wacko tunes, making you drift beyond your own consciousness. The mix combines the animals of his daily life in Kreuzberg. It sure gets hotter with this otter…..

Our liaison started when I met him in 2016 after the off-location off-heads event Opium Motel at the Jamaika Inn. He's also a roller girl. Here he's coasting along odd rhymes and quirky rhythms, to not lose grip, to avoid going stir-crazy… while still letting all sorts of stone crazy in.
