Six years after delivering his debut album - a digital-only affair called TruSkool - Demuir has finally got round to recording a follow-up. The Toronto native's brand of house is chunky, groovy, deep and funky, taking cues not only from previous collaborators such as DJ Sneak, but also those of his contemporaries that make great use of dusty samples and killer drum programming. As a result, Visions manages to work both as a collection of club-focused cuts and an album you can listen to repeatedly from start to finish. Our picks of a pleasingly strong bunch include the fluid, disco-tinged, Hipnotic-sampling brilliance of 'Mind, Body & Soul Call Me', TUSH hook-up 'Skylar' (a superb slab of gospel-tinged soulful house) and the delicious Fred P collaboration 'Dream (Part II)'.

1. We absolutely loved your mix! May we ask what your main inspirations are and started collecting and playing music? 

So happy that you loved it! There were two occasions where I had a musical experience that completely blew my little mind. The first one: I heard Kraftwerk’s ‘The Man Machine’. I’d gotten it as a birthday present from my Aunt on my 13th birthday, she’d gifted it to me on the promise “This will change your life.” It actually really did. My Mom had a really thumping stereo system at the time and I remember so clearly just sitting in the middle of our living room, on the floor, being totally annihilated by sounds I’d never heard before. Every music-obsessive has one of these spark-to-gasoline moments that ignites a flame in you, and this was mine. I instantly bought everything they’d ever made and indoctrinated myself with synthesizers. 1978 had never sounded so new, but also never further away. I honestly just stopped consuming anything new. This kick started a so far life-long obsession with digging for music. I was constantly searching for similar music. Eventually I got really into early electronics and minimal wave, which then led to Italo-disco of course, and suddenly and quite by coincidence hit a wall that changed everything again for me: disco and the beginnings of house music. For the reissue, Men From The Nile are joined by some of the biggest names in dance music. Green Velvet aka Cajmere has been a mainstay in the Chicago circuit since the 90s, making a name for himself as a multifaceted artist as well as label head at Cajual Records and Relief Records. Key players in the club scene for over two decades, Boston duo Soul Clap launched Soul Clap Records in 2012 and have since released more than 450 tracks on their imprint. They can also be found in the Crew Love collective alongside Wolf + Lamb and Double Standard. One of the pinnacle figures in the Chicago House scene, Derrick Carter needs no introduction. Releasing his debut single Love Me Right in 1987, he has become a leading figure in dance music. Jazzanova are a Berlin based collective with a production career spanning over two decades. Chicago born DJ Pierre changed the scene forever with the release of his Acid Tracks EP in 1987, as it saw the birth of acid house.

Lyon-based house whizkid Lekind returns to his spiritual home of Robsoul recordings for the first time since his ’21 brace of Influences, ready to drop his new 'Classics Always Win’EP.
Hitting on a misspent youth digging through his dad's record collection, Night Renaissance stomps a straight 4x4, garnished with eerie jazz keys, grooving bass, chopped vocal and added horns, to create a smokey basement bump.
'Ghetto Girl’ is one for the essentials toolbox, with its growling bass and bump. This girl rolls down town with serious amounts of swing. ‘Classics Always Win' brings to life his Roland TR8 and MC303 to create sunshine loop that funks for days… just listen to that bassline.
On final track, 'Does The MPC Burn', the Frenchman winds the filters, stabs the vocals and ignites the dancefloor… Burn? Yes, it does.

For those in the know, Brian Kage's chops as a producer and studio wizard are well established. The artist has released on Omar S' FXHE, Carl Craigs' Planet-E, Steve Bug’s PokerFlat, Rob Modell’s Echospace, his own labels Beretta Music and Michigander, and other imprints, helped launch the careers of internationally respected DJs and producers like Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, and Luke Hess, and mix, mastered, and engineered for Ataxia, Delano Smith,, John F.M., Norm Talley, OB Ignitt, Monty Luke, and more. Lauded for a sound that is rooted, yet forever forward in its approach, his most recent work, 909 Nights EP, is no exception.
The title track reintroduces a winning team with Taho and Kage combining forces again. The release gets off the starting line with a booming kick, that signature drum sound of acid house's most infamous rhythm machine. Syncopated closed hats and
cymbal crashes rush in before their crunchy snare and clap companions join in. Pitch bending open hats introduce track progressions like earth shattering orchestral stabs
and rich, uplifting piano notes underwritten by deep chords and a fat bass line while short, squelchy, guitar-like licks dance below. As atmospheric as it is bumping, a synthetic flute playfully flutters into the mix, elevated by airy strings and a French filtered elastic brass solo lead. A touch of acid completes this journey through sound.
Listeners would be forgiven for thinking they reopened Club Zanzibar in Detroit and this was its anthem.
Shifting gears, "Warehouse Vibes" flares up next with phased effects and a filtered kick driving the track along a conveyor belt towards an all-enveloping dubby techno bliss.
Pressure steadily builds up before being released in the form of steam flowing from creaky, rusted pipes. While the sonic palette delivers on its promise, this is no ordinary warehouse we've entered the gates into; it's breaking in through the shattered window of an abandoned industrial manufacturing facility territory instead.
Perhaps a little fuzzy after the previous beatdown, "JAX" is an intentionally full-body workout as the fist-pumping grip of the preceding cut gives way to hip-thrusting, put- your-back-in-it dancing action. Jacking drums lend the track a hefty bounce while the vocals really hammer the point home, in case there was somehow any confusion left as to what to do with this one. An impressing flex, partygoers are guaranteed to be going home seeing gains after each play.
The Motor City may make less cars these days, but Brian Kage is an integral component of artists under the 313 emblem ensuring there's no shortage of newer model Detroit house and techno productions that are reliable and well worth the ride.
