A life-long musician originally from South Florida, Adam Santucci dabbed in various musical projects before embarking on a solo career as an electronic music producer and DJ under the Air Zaïre moniker in 2011. By the following year, the then-budding DJ/producer packed his bags and moved to NYC where he quickly fell into the local music scene and gained momentum following the release of various singles and remixes. In 2016, Air Zaïre relocated to Los Angeles, where his new home on the west coast has inspired a wave of new disco edit releases.

Wenn wir vor den Empfangsgeräten wieder enger zusammenrücken und uns die alljährlichen Wiederholungen von Märchen- oder wahlweise Hollywoodklassikern mit prall gefüllten Plätzchenbäuchen anschauen und uns im Rundfunk wohlbekannten Melodien erwarten, dann kann das Fest der Liebe nicht mehr weit sein. Wir lehnen uns zurück in wohliger Gewissheit, was da kommen mag. The same procedure as every year, we are driving home for christmas with the same troubles like last christmas. Chemistry 001

One of the things I've always appreciated most about music is its ability to bring people together.  For most of my life, that has manifested in music facilitating my connections with others in my capacity as a listener, whether by conjuring a special moment for me to share with a fellow reveler on a dance floor, prompting discussion about societal issues or serving as a marker in time to reminisce with friends over.  Since I started DJing two years ago, I've discovered the pleasure of not only connecting with the crowd but with fellow DJs and producers on a creative level.  It's interesting to see where tastes overlap and to hear how music that is on the fringes of each other's tastes can combine in a synergistic way to create a compelling whole.  With this in mind, and wanting to change up my usual approach a bit, I reached out to my talented friend @Subcora to collaborate with me on what I hope will be only the first set in a recurring mix series called "Chemistry".

Each mix in the series will be a joint effort between me and another house/techno DJ who I respect.  From initial conception of the vibe, to track selections, to arrangement and recording, a fellow curator and I will collaborate to bring you something that is generally within our mutual ranges but perhaps slightly beyond the bounds of our typical styles. 

For episode one, I've linked up with Subcora, a Liverpool/Istanbul based DJ with a love for tribal-inspired deep house.  Subcora has contributed mixes to podcasts such as @deepist, @dreamcultureofficial, @deepklassified, @sunsetgrooves and @zeroparty.  We're pleased with the fruits of our labor, and hope you enjoy as well!

Er war ein vorweihnachtliches Geschenk für seine Eltern und die Kreativabteilung aus Berlin. Der zukünftige DJ und Tätowierer, Deepreén (René Scholz) erblickte am 14. Dezember 1977 im Lichtenberger Kiez das Licht der Welt. Ein wenig war sein beruflicher Weg vorbestimmt, denn die Familie war schon damals sehr künstlerisch veranlagt. Die Leidenschaft für Musik bestimmt bis heute sein Leben und das wird wohl auch für immer so bleiben. Die Schule meisterte Deepreén ohne große Schwierigkeiten, mit einer zweijährigen Episode in Dänemark. Nach der Schule zeigte Deepreén der Welt seine vielfältigen Talente. Langjähriges Vagabundieren durch die Berufslandschaft führte schließlich zur Ergreifung einer soliden Berufsausbildung als Mediengestalter. Schon während des Studiums verdiente er sich sein Geld als Tätowierer und sammelte Erfahrungen in mehreren Studios. Vom Studio bis zum Nachtschwärmen durch die Berliner Clubszene, erzielte sein Musikgespür immer größer werdende Anerkennung. In dieser Zeit lernte er den DJ, Labelbesitzer und Produzenten Alfred Heinrichs kennen, der ihn mit seinem Erfolg in der internationalen Musikszene inspirierte. Mit dem DJ. Duo Hennig und Scholz feierte Deepreén erste Erfolge. Es folgten Auftritte in diversen Clubs und sogar in London durften sie sich zum Besten geben. Für Deepreén ging ein Traum in Erfüllung. Jetzt tanzte er nicht nur in seinen Lieblingsclubs, sondern stand selbst hinterm DJ-Pult und durfte mit seinen Beats die Tanzfläche rocken. Langsam wurde es auch Zeit für ein Soloprojekt, von dem Deepreén schon lange schwärmte. Mit Deep House und Nu Disco füllt Deepreén nunmehr die Herzen seiner Fans. Ein neues Licht in der deutschen Electro-Szene wird in der Zukunft für die Eine oder Andere Überraschung sorgen...wir sind gespannt…..

He was a pre-Christmas gift for his parents and the creative department from Berlin. The future DJ and tattoo artist, Deepreén (René Scholz) was born on December 14, 1977 in Lichtenberg. His career path was a little predetermined, cause the family was already very into arts. The passion for music determines his life until today and that will probably remain forever. The school was finished by Deepreén without much difficulty, also with a two-year episode in Denmark. After school, Deepreén showed the world his talents and is working as a media designer. Already during his studies, he earned his money as a tattoo artist and DJ. During this time he met the DJ, label owner and producer Alfred Heinrichs, who inspired him with his success in the international music scene. With the DJ. Duo Hennig and Scholz celebrated Deepreén first successes. It was followed by appearances in various clubs, even in London they were allowed to play. For Deepreén, a dream came true. Now hes not only dancin in his favorite clubs, but also stood behind the DJ desk himself and was allowed to rock the dance floor with his beats. With Deep House and Nu Disco Deepreén now fills the hearts of his fans. A new light in the German electro scene will cause some surprises in the future ... we are curious ... ..

We bring this year to an end with our 22nd podcast with a great mix put together by Arman! 

Arman is a Toronto based DJ and producer in the deep house/progressive sound. After being classically trained in violin by a musical family from a young age, Arman later picked up electric guitar and drums, and eventually got interested in music production. Arman has been passionate about electronic music for nearly a decade, and as his taste in electronic music grew, Arman got the itch to DJ and took up the decks. Hitting the Toronto live underground scene quickly, Arman can be found playing at various Toronto hotspots including Parlour, Escobar, Wildflower, Sunnyside Pavillion, Nest, or for Secret Society and other pop up parties, to name a few. Arman's mixes focus on creating tension and anticipation, building up to driving grooves of energy at their peak.

Arman has guest mixes out on: White Label Podcast, AtomicSky Recordings, Secret Society Sessions, Shadow Radio, Dance and Rave, METWRK, Dream Culture, Deep House Tehran and Deep House Toronto. In spring of 2016, Arman's mixing also won Jungle Funk Recording's #Together second DJ contest. Arman has releases out on AtomicSky Recordings and Dance and Rave.

Based in Berlin since 1999 former music editor and now tour manager Peyman Farahani spends life mostly on the road – between airports and hotels, clubs and festivals, amongst friends and artists from around the globe. But as much as life is ever-changing some things remain unchanged:
Above all his passion for Music that has always been a constant companion wherever life has taken him.
This mix is the first of a new series of mixes he aims to record from time to time under his DJ-alias STIII who throughout the years has played in various venues in Berlin, most of all at Watergate. Entitled „easy listening“ the idea is to share the soundtrack of his journeys in one continous mix – to reflect the diversity of all collected impressions and memories with the music he currently listens to. And furthermore taking these aspirations ambitiously into the realm of photography with a new camera joining the inseparable and most formative fellowship between a soul and his passions – to never end the cycle of inspiration and expression.
