Opening with serene, euphoric pads laced with a mesmerising sitar melody and haunting Indian vocals, ‘Red Shift’ gradually unfolds, pulling the listener into its hypnotic atmosphere. As the ronin reached the road’s crest upon a windswept hilltop, the sight that met his eyes was not that of the bucolic streamside town that he had last passed through three seasons ago. The fields upon its outskirts lay fallow beneath the last rays of the late summer sun, and no livestock milled about before the houses that lay now shattered, their walls torn and thatched rooves thrown about as though by a great gale. At the town’s center, the roof of the humble temple had been rent asunder, revealing the careful miydaiku construction that had been the great pride of this town upon his last visit. 

As the ronin began to tread upon the town’s now desolate streets, he found himself assailed by an unearthly heat that seemed to sap the very earth of its vital energies. Produce lay shriveled and unharvested on the town’s vines, the pathway upon which he tread singed the bottom of his sandals, and as he drew his katana the steel blade shimmered as a mirage. Before him, upon the steps of the temple, lay the body of its faithful miko, her skin charred by rivulets of flame in a pattern the ronin knew all too well. Around him, the heat swelled, sucking the oxygen from the air. Above him, the ronin looked up to meet a sight he already knew to exist - the great canine head of a hellhound, emblazoned with a talisman that bore the singular character of destruction and inscribed with the singular disjointed stroke pattern that could only be wrought by a malevolent kami’s hand.

EATBRAIN’s ronin warrior SCREAMARTS returns to the label with HELLHOUND, an EP cultivated from the artist’s distinct sonic palette and honed to deliver a four-track canticle of hellish sonics to the hungry ears of the EATBRAIN horde.

Across the undercity streets that lay beneath the hoverways of his home metropolis sped an inventor astride a singular scooter, a creation cobbled together from technologies long disregarded by most of his mechanically minded contemporaries. Though the roadways of the undercity had long laid untended and were now riddled with potholes, bumps, and obstacles of all sorts the inventor rode on undaunted, assured in the multifaceted capabilities of his two wheeled contraption.

Flanked by twin ride-along automaton’s that constantly aided in attending to the vehicle’s maintenance, the inventor headed his convoy with reckless abandon. A flick of the handlebars would engage a brief maglev pulse launching him sufficiently above any obstruction, whilst a set of inertial dampeners prevented any ill fated injuries on the return vector of any such launch. The vehicle’s wheelbase could be adjusted mid-ride, allowing for precise control or a smoother ride as the inventor saw fit, and he could rest himself upon the seat of an ancient bicycle should he wish, an item of rare provenance indeed given the longtime adoption of levitation based transportation by all those around him. Though he admired the technical feat of that transportation mode, the inventor far preferred his own device. To feel the road beneath one’s own feet was a luxury many had forgotten, and as he accelerated into the glistening urban night he relished in the freedom that he found in doing so.

CURRENT VALUE returns to EATBRAIN with ACCELERATION, speeding to the fore of the label’s horde with four inventive neurofunk sequences inspired by the components & creation of his own unique vehicle.
