Somne returns to AURA DINAMICA.

The label head follows up his 2020 LP Ostinati Ritmici with a new EP of floor-focused material that combines lush synth work with breaks and razor sharp sound design in the artist’s characteristic style.

Where Ostinati Ritmici drew on hypnotic techno and more abstract compositional techniques for inspiration, New Energy sees a shift in the artist’s approach, marrying careful songwriting with effective production to build tracks that exist as both DJ set highlights and standalone recordings. Uplifting title track New Energy builds neatly over its run-time, a well-defined break underpinning bass and pad components that shift and bend in tandem with a stylish, gated vocal. Blue Spirit takes its lead from classic UKG, updating familiar components for modern sound systems and adding unique layers of grit and noise. Skipping drums flex alongside stylish bass motifs to drive the composition forward with euphoric breakdowns charging the mood before the drops. Emotive roller Midnight City closes out the EP, the only 4x4 recording on the record, delivered in classic Somne style with dense, percussive drums working alongside a pitch-bent bassline and neat harmonic components – as musical as it is effective as a DJ tool.

Luca Scarpa (@millesuoni)

Born and raised in Milan, he is an active protagonist of the local electronic scene. A DJ Resident and co-founder of the collective @millesuoni.collective, his sets are a mix of genres and rhythms, ranging from hypnotic and deep techno to melodic and dreamy atmospheres. He also includes tribal and ambient sets in his repertoire.
For Rebus cllctv, he played an escalation of sounds that accompany the listener through a tribal and increasingly deeper path, evoking the transition between day and night.
Luca has played at important festivals such as Transilvania in Ukraine, Coru Aresti in Sardinia, and Redentore in Venice. Additionally, he has collaborated with renowned local collectives such as Settemenouno, Collision, Die Sekte, and Arcade Zone (now Synthetica), playing at the main venues in Milan including Circolo Amelia, Ex Serraglio and Silicone Club.

Come Down is a Sci Fi short film written and directed by Lorenzo Nera. 
The film is set in a future city consumed by rave music. The inhabitants of the dystopian world are constantly exposed and enforced to listen to repetitive and heavy bass music, and encouraged to continually take substances to enhance their experience in this environment.
Joe is an inhabitant of the city, stumbling around it's every day monotonous, drug and music drenched routine. He is in a relationship with Ja, worried that her use of headphones to drown out the sounds of the world that overwhelms them will put them at risk.
