[ Story ]
There was this last ball hosted by the House of Romanov. A royal gathering of the most prominent noblemen and women in Russia and Europe.
Unbeknownst to the royal family, a political scheme and plan to overthrow the royal family has begun to take place.
The crowd is divided between two opposing factions, the ones who support the royal family, and those who do not.
Some in the supporting faction are suspicious that there is indeed a revolution on the brink of the horizon but have no solid proof to accuse the other.
People don’t really know who’s their enemy.
Two childhood acquaintances who secretly caught feelings for one another / people who are meant to be together but from opposing families, took the opportunity to dance together, societal norms and political schemes be damned.
They don’t anymore what’s going to happen in near future. They expect that this is their last chance to tell the other of their feelings if they ever want them to know - so they did. It's mutual. They waltz.
The disapproving families didn't stop them because they don’t want to make themselves look suspicious.
The guy is from the opposing family. The girl is from the supporting family and princess Anastasia’s childhood friend.
They know each of them can't betray their families. A revolution might happen tomorrow and they will be on opposite sides. But tonight they'll have this dance

About the reunion of the 2 people waltzing from the last song that I posted (‘Last Romanov Waltz)
Ok I got invested and really wanted to make these 2 characters not die and end up together
They survived the Russian Revolution but got separated.
The Romanov family was overthrown and murdered in 1917
It is now 1930, Germany 13 years later
The girl’s family died in the revolution, including her mother who was a lady-in waiting to Anastasia. She joins the rest of the surviving supporting families who went into hiding.
Almost all his family died in the revolution - all except his cousin. They share a flat in Moscow.
When Germany and Russia became allies in 1922, they moved to Germany. it’s not safe to linger longer in Russia.
On a midsummer day, the guy was in Berlin for a conference.
He needed to catch a transit at the train station.
Coincidentally, she was there as well. Also taking a transit, to a completely different direction.
They made eye contact and slowly recognized one another.
Surprised, they walked towards another almost like they’re in trance. Their trains left. They didn’t care.
It was a busy train station, so they had to wade through the crowd.
When they’re finally in front of one another, they hesitated.
There they were. In another place and time.
He offers her a hand.
She takes it.
Just like at the ball, 13 years ago.
Except for this time, they can dance much longer.

After the events at that ball, the Russian Revolution began.
In the end they can’t betray their families.
When everything ended, they got separated for over a decade.
He went off to university music. After the revolution, he didn’t don’t want to hold a weapon anymore. He now holds a violin.
She moved to Germany to study Bauhaus Art/architechture at the Univeristy of Weimar. She wants to build something grand, like the palace before it fell depicting all it’s beauty. To build a place that can last.
The good thing is they can lead relatively normal lives. They’re not important enough characters to change the game of thrones or have someone sent after them.
He’s adopted, not the son but the nephew of the hand of the king, which makes his family second class. His parents were killed in world war I.
Her mother is one of the only 5 Stadsdame-ranked lady in women in 1914, which makes her third class. She was happily married to her father, a high-ranked dignitary.

[ Story ]

The stone archway was a portal… she was sure of it. So why does it look like she’s still back at her village? Confused, she follows the river that cuts through the village, towards the marketplace.
Despite the sun already set and the sky getting darker, it seems like the sellers are just coming out to prepare the floating market. A fresh farmer’s market happens at 7 am and 7 pm (after the Spirit Hour, since there is superstition to having to avoid being out and about from 6-6.30 pm due to it being Spirit Hour). The earlier sellers tie their boats to the small harbours where customers will come and approach them to buy meat and produce and start The ones who came later and couldn’t find a harbour tie a rope from the edge of their boats onto a big rock that they later drop into the canal and anchor themselves. They all started chatting with one another other.
She hasn’t been to the floating night market since she left the village 20 years ago. This place still looks serene and unchanging. If anything, now it looks more quaint, with people bringing torches to light up their stalls and boats. She wonders why they don’t just use powered hand lamps. Maybe they’ll light those up after they finish parking the boat and preparing the meat and produce to conserve the batteries. Everyone here dresses very traditionally too. She wonders if maybe it’s because now her village is officially a UNESCO-protected heritage village and everyone is implored to preserve the culture during such special activities.
The cool wind sweeps her face gently. She always liked going to the floating market always looks very serene, yet full of life always. Maybe she didn’t go through a portal at all. The idea of a magical portal leading to another world just seems silly now.
More people are coming and food is being cooked at the stalls. It smells delicious. She’ll go back to investigate the Ruins and the Pit another time. She’s going to walk around and enjoy herself tonight.
For some reason some people she passes start doing double takes. Others also start to notice her and started talking rapidly with one another. Feeling awkward, she bumps into a sack and it fell into the canal. She kept walking but turns her head back to say sorry to the seller/owner, but he just stares at her, not even seemingly caring about the sack that fell into the canal. He looks at her like she's never seen her before. She doesn't understand why - after all, she has been gone for 20 years and she herself recognized nobody.
It’s starting to make her nervous. She walks briskly towards the centre marketplace and away from the canal. A guy called up from behind which she ignored. She feels like she’s being followed. She stars running. They chase after her.
The marketplace is even more crowded. Customers haggle from the divided harbour for meat and produce. She keeps running, stopping to hide occasionally until she lost them.
That was really weird. She better get back home. She walks backwards for a little bit to see if she's still being followed and then bumps into someone.

Serukam, Kalimantan, Indonesia. A remote village that is not even on the map. Even though there is a hospital, the people still believe in witch doctors.
The local belief about Danau Toba, Sumatra, Indonesia. They said if you visit once, you’ll end up visit again.
The village in Kimi no Na Wa.

[ Story ]
It’s the main character’s first few days at The Other Village. The boy shows her around. He wants to end the tour at ‘his favourite place in the world’ - the tallest place in the area.
He takes her through one of the entrances of the tomb, to the top of the tallest building in the middle of the compound. He said there is a reason why His Divine wants this spot for his final rest. There is a saying that the tallest place in the village is as close as you can get to heaven.
She heard that saying before. Her late grandmother said it in her letter. She also thought that nobody can reach this place just yet because it hasn’t been excavated yet in her time.
She sees a breathtaking overview of everything. Houses in the village have always been built vertically to accommodate the mountain terrain, but from here they looked majestically structured. The marketplace on the bottom of it looks more colourful, in the middle of all the surrounding green. The shining midday sun makes the canals look like silver snakes moving through the village. Farmers and their families are working in the rice fields. Looks like it’s going to be a big harvest. More downhill, several big rock pillars stand in the middle of a lake. It's a popular nesting ground for rare Waterfowl during this time of the year. A couple of fishing boats peacefully float in between. Children are playing by the shore. It’s a great open space, unobscured by trees. The wind blows gently, through the patches of bamboo woods surrounding the necropolis here and there. It’s making a musical percussive sound. This place is a sanctuary.
He said it’s hard for just anyone to go up here. He’s a special case. But normally you have to ask a designer, architect, or someone who’s currently working on a project here to guide you around, to begin with. There isn’t even a map to follow for the villagers, as the His Divine was very secretive about this project.
They ate their lunch up there and she filled him in on everything he missed in the last 10 years. They talked until sunset.

This small town in Massachusetts is famous for it’s ancient graveyard (dating back to the 17th century) and high amounts of allegedly paranormal activities.. though the locals think that these are all just tales and superstitions to invite toursists.
A wolf howl in the distance. It’s a cool night. The whistling wind ruffles the trees, scaring a black cat. The graveyard sits in front of an abandoned church.

[ story ]
3 witches live next to a creek that turns into a river. they wash their clothes there. the water is very clear. the treehouse / mushroom is surrounded by the Wicked Woods, where a lot of magical woodland creatures and critters live. the cobblestones towards it are framed by lots of red mushrooms speckled with white they have a vegetable patch and a big garden, where they get fresh ingredients for cooking and crafts.
frogs outside croak at each other from a distance, creating a harmonious ingle to wake up the forest. one of the witches yawned, still drowsy, accidentally someone stepped on Mr. Whiskers’ tail - which woke him up too. The cat laments. He used to be a regal Persian prince in his past life.. before he was cursed to be a cat for the next 9 lives. the catch of being nearly immortal is to have his tail gets stepped on everyday.
A new coven member is a sound witch and theremin player. She practices in the morning. Her familiar, Kipper, a cute axotl despite a little challenged, starts singing in gibberish.
A magic broom sweeps the place by itself. Crystals hang from the ceiling, reflecting the sunlight coming through the window. They make rainbows on the walls.
A witch pours coffee, and cooks bacon and omelet in the kitchen.
Another witch starts working / doing entrepreneurship stuff in the living room. In the midst of this peaceful morning, they can hear Babushka down the street starts yelling at the woodland creatures who managed to sneak into her garden to steal some vegetables again. It's kind of a daily occurrence. The witch tries to call the landlord of the forest to report the noise complaint, but it was unanswered. So she sends an an angry, i mean, passionate email about the matter instead.
The morning breeze rustles the trees, drying the clothes hung outside. It's making the wind chimes and hanging bottles ring.
An email notification pops up in the Wicked Witches' inbox and all the sounds stops. Everyone gathers round to read. it's a request from a client who is in need for paranormal investigating in Ireland.

[ Story ]
After stopping the gas, the witches continued their journey on a dark and winding road. They are close to Booville.
The skeleton bobble head on the dashboard bobbles. Someone turned up the radio.
A witch dozes off in the backseat, next to the black cat, Mr. Whiskers, and holding a fish bowl containing a sleeping axolotl called Kipper. The fishbowl has a little treasure chest that blows bubbles.
The sun has set, and the sky looks like it’s about to rain.
The witch who’s driving sings along to the radio. This winding road seems to go on forever. Nothing to see except trees.
Another has her feet up on the dashboard, flipping through a magazine, chewing gum.
The music from the radio picks up, waking up the axolotl. It stretches in the fishbowl. Kipper then noticed a sillouehete on the road ahead. What looks like a man with a head that seems as if it’s about to fall from his body.
Kipper screams, Mr. Whiskers wailed. The witches were talking to each other so they noticed last. They and the odd man in joined the screaming.
CRASH! The man fell, but his head flew off his body, rolling over the car roof and falling into the grass. They hear rats squeaking everywhere. Odd.
The witches all got out to check on the man - they were so concerned that no one pointed out that they’ve arrived in Booville. A town sign nearby states the number of population.
There was no one in front of the car. Spooked, they all hurried back into the car and drive away. Kipper is still screaming.
As the car dissappears into the distance, a figure watches over them, adjusting it’s head. A wolf howl at a distance.

Season of the Witch

[ story ]

“This place has been a blessing. I was a lost kid in more sense
than one when I arrived. Just gave up hope and not thinking of
going back and trying and living. But living was hard anyway.
This place gave me peace.’”

The people in the Spirit Village insisted he go on and live his
life. “Your future is still bright ahead of you. Don’t be silly.” or “What
are you doing? Get going. You don’t belong here. Our time has
passed, but yours have just begun. Go live”

They raised him for 20 years as one of their own, ever since he
accidentally slipped through the portal and had to stay as
there was no way back. Now that there is a chance, they know it’s better for him to return. The curse has broken. The place and people are slowly turning
into clay and crumbling - a sign that their souls are finally moving on too. Staying means the boy's soul will move from being just being suspended to death.

The boy came to his sense and packed hastily. Turns out they
already had most of his belonging packed just in case.
“Thank you so much for raising me for all these years.” he
kneeled to his ’brother’ and ‘sister’, who were basically his
adoptive parents. 
They were 22 when they adopted him, but
now he's old enough to look the same age.
They are very proud of him, and said goodbyes with a smile.
They urged him to hurry.
Everything in the village continues to turning back into clay
and crumbling slowly - houses, people, etc. From dust to dust.
But the villagers insisted they come out the house and start
their daily activities as usual, just like how they have been for
2000 years their soul has been stuck here.

The boy runs as fast as he could so he too doesn’t crumble
and disappear, to go back to the entrance of the tomb, where
the portal to the real world is. As he does, the villagers stops
in their tracks to cheer him on. He swore to imprint the village
and it’s habitants last moments.
He looks back for a second to look at their kind smiles, eyes
closed as they suddenly crumble to dust.
He runs like hell, but seemingly won't make it. But he finally
sees the girl, just about to go through the portal. He grabs her
hand, surprising her. She didn’t think he’d change his mind to
come. They stumble through the portal safely at the last
minute.
They’re alive.

- on ABC news's youtube - missing thailand soccer team trapped in Tham Luang Nang Non, a cave system in Chiang Rai province, northern Thailand, for 10 days and finally rescued on june 23rd, 2018. 2 british divers happened to be in the area and joined the search and rescue with the locals police. There was a moment where you'd think the youngest and shortest boy wouldn't make it through the tunnel because the rescue suit was too big for him. but all 12 boys survived the terrifying ordeal, much to the amazement of the world.

[ story ] 

there's a curfew for kids int he village with a warning - never be out and about around Spirit Hour. "If you must be outside of the house or can't come home yet, stay indoors wherever you are. Or else the spirits will get you." It was an age-old superstition. But a necropolis was just uncovered earlier this week, and the Neighborhood Kids were told not to come near it even though they found the entrance to one of the tomb first. So they snuck out at night, when all the adults are likely doing something else but watching the children - during Spirit Hour at 6pm. The kids parked their bikes outside of the tunnel, and climbed down. Heavy rain started pouring all of a sudden in the middle of them exploring. The cave become flooded, and they become trapped there.

One of the children who were supposed to go is a goody-two-shoes, and she refused to come with. But she followed and witnessed them entering the cave before returning back home. The adults all were panicking, so she told them about the tunnel.

Chase Him

The house is also sneaky. It can beckon people (Orville) to enter. The house is alive - the hallway and store turns upside down when it feels like it, the furniture and equipments plays hide and seek with the customers, the mechanical things move by themselves, the books read themselves when their bored.

[ Story ]
The address Orville got from the phone call led to a house in the unsubsidized part to the neighbourhood. He thinks it’s strange because he’s lived here his whole life but never saw this antique shop ever. In fact, he was passing by this lane just yesterday to make pizza deliveries and could have sworn that it was just an empty plot of land in between 2 townhouses. As he approaches the front door, the door swung open as if it’s beckoning him.
“Hello! Pizza delivery” he enters. But no one was behind the door. He finds himself at the end of a dimly lit hallway. The ceiling fan above is making a low hum. As if the house is beckoning him to come further inside, the lamps flickered on one by one towards the other end of the hallway. It’s still quite dark and he can’t really see what’s at the end, but he continues forward with the pizza.
As he goes further in, he sees portraits of important-looking people hanging on the walls. Orville was busy looking ahead and observing the next portrait or clock, that he doesn’t realize that each portrait’s eyes seems to follow him as he goes further in.
There are also ornate looking clocks on the walls, in various shapes and sizes, each one of them having odd symbols instead of numbers and too many hands. Their ticking sounds suddenly grows more rapid, then a cuckoo clock suddenly starts chiming. That’s when things starts becoming strange on the second halfway. The lamps starts to flicker violently.
Everything starts becoming topsy/turvy. Portraits starts to turn, the clock arms starts whirring, some going clockwise and others anticlockwise. Orville realized that he is now walking upside down.
He reaches the end of the hallway.

[ Story ]
He finds himself in a lobby with hardwood floors - a hot pot of old types of gothic and gothic/ classical looking things. Everything is upside down. The hallway ends to a room full of interesting little trinkets and wondrous things. Things and the room is a little bit more properly lit here. He’s never been into an antique shop, but this one sure has some mysterious things.
There is a cacophony of sounds - they don’t need to be all playing at the same time, but maybe a gradual orchestra of sounds as he explores around.
He saw books in different languages, their pages flipping being read by themselves. A piano playing in the corner. Maybe these things are battery powered, Orville thought. Windchimes clinking, Vintage clocks whirring. Globes on different countertops that spin by themselves before stopping and glowing at a new country every few seconds. Wooden blocks. A typewriter that types itself. A mechanical toy monkey starts to walk around.
A music box starts playing prettily. As the ballerina twirls, Oriville starts feeling like he’s being watched. He turns towards the direction and saw a pair of eyes preserved in a jar. He wonders why anyone would want to collect eyes in jars. There’s a lot of them on a shelf. They start blinking when he wasn’t looking.
Orville turns around because he heard a rattling sound behind him. Is there someone else in this shop?
“Who’s there?” he called. No answer. He turns around, ready to go back to where he came from. But then there’s that sound again.
Something is moving out of the corner of his eye. He turns around. Just a locked cupboard full of broomsticks.
Something is watching him behind the shelves. A shadow follows him from behind the jars as he walked by. Orville ducks behind the shelves, not making a sound, and hoping to sneak up on whoever’s been following him.
The lamp near him makes the shadow bigger and bigger.
Orville jumps out of hiding. The shadow was a frog. It croaks in surprise. Part of it's body is mechanical. Before Orville can observe it further, it hops to sat on top of the counter, next to a sign that says ‘ring bell for aunt Ecila’. There is no bell to be seen, but that's not the strangest thing in this place.

Cabinet of Curiousities


[ Story ]

The beginning of Wakalulu. A film by Elita Elkana. Nothing ever happens in this area. People call this place Pleasantville. White picket fence, nice seaside community. The residents aren’t hostile to the kids. They’re just indifferent to those orphans from ‘that side of the town’.
Orville and his friends bike around to delivery pizza, they speed up because they have to be back before curfew. Orville almost hit a family of ducks who were crossing the street. He's forced to take a turn / detour into Mrs. Marsh's garden, whom isn't very pleased. He exits the garden and saw that one of the ducklings is stuck in a hole / sewer. Orville gets off his bike to help the little guy out, before heading back to the orphanage. All the pizzas have been delivered.
