As a DJ and radio presenter, he captivated audiences with his eclectic taste and infectious energy. In 2019, he founded Discoholics Anonymous, a groundbreaking blog dedicated to disco-oriented sounds, earning recognition as a definitive resource, and winning the OGV award for best blog in 2021.

As the visionary founder of Discoholics Anonymous Recordings, Discoholic Ken extends his commitment to Disco preservation. The label showcases talented artists who share a passion for Disco, delivering diverse releases that capture the genre's essence while pushing its boundaries. With a keen ear for talent and a deep understanding of the Disco aesthetic, Ken works closely with his artists to ensure their creative visions come to life.

Musta’s productions always have a unique and fascinating fusion of styles, rhythms and takes. With releases on Samosa, Tropical Disco, Nervous Records and Midnight Riot to name but a few, Musta is very much one of the innovators of the scene, and we've been licking out lips in anticipation of this team up with De Gama.

For this week's instalment of Spin City I'm absolutely delighted to welcome back Spin City Royalty, Lee Gorbutt aka iMFROMULL. As a former resident of the show, Lee has spun for many hours with us here, so it's amazing to have him back. I've also realised it's been way too long so you can expect more of him in the fairly near future.

for this one I decided to mix things up a bit, indulge myself and do the whole two hours myself! So we went on a little journey, some moody slow mo, hip hop, funk and soul, into some boogie, a bit of a jazzy section the building up into some housier territory to finish on a couple of bangers. Very enjoyable it was too, except the full, double USB/ XDJ crash about 25 mins in. I've spliced it together as best I can so you don't have to listen to the awkward silences!

Masterful French artist Yuksek returns with his fifth studio album, majestically combining his love of Brazilian rhythm with far-flung dance textures via the vibrant colours of ‘Dance’O’Drome’.

His breathtaking new album shares both its name and eclectic philosophy with the Dance’O’Drome radio show he presents on Radio Nova, vividly expanding upon the kaleidoscopic musical universe he created with 2020’s acclaimed ‘Nosso Ritmo’ LP. A glorious fusion of Brazilian luminosity and esoteric dance sensibilities, ‘Dance’O’Drome’ effortlessly glides through diverse sonic topography. Formed with a magnetic disco core, explosions of punk-funk are pitched against feverish Italo refrains, the compelling soundscapes variously paying homage to the filtered house of seminal Parisian label, Roulé, the languid Balearic disco of Metro Area, and plenty more in between. 

To celebrate the release, Yuksek has provided us with an insightful concept mix, best described by the man himself: 

"This mix is a blend of tracks, alternatives and live versions of my new album with the addition of tracks I sometimes play in my DJ sets, some edits I've produced and some inspirations. ENJOY!"
