A split 12” with four soulful and danceable IDM jams by Lucita Octans and DJ Lifegoals. The opening track Aegian Chrome features phat bassline, funky breakbeat and otherworldly synths. The other Lucita track Last Lane Shuffle gets busier with intricate rhythms and synth riffs that tell a surreal story. On the flipside, Anesthz starts with a rough uptempo breakbeat and slowly introduces a super soulful and funky bass pattern alongside some choice pads. The second DJ Lifegoals track Parallax Vision introduces ultra-funky bassline and develops into a rich tapestry of sound. These warm hardware jams really put the letter “D” back to IDM!

After stellar releases on Ilian Tape and Nostro Hood System among others, Mutualism represents the much-awaited return of Atrice on their own label Miras. The follow-up EP reflects the culmination of a year-long exploration of compositional techniques and sound design, and acts as a first step towards a debut album. The result is a complete work, divided into eight chapters, that applies previous artistic research on textures, harmonics and rhythms in a rigorous yet playful manner. Whilst continuing to touch upon a broad spectrum of uptempo reference points, Mutualism offers a first glimpse into the pairs underlying pliancy next to the ever-present intricate complexities in their output.

Control Freak are proud to present the debut EP from @memoryplay_music - the new alias and alter ego of Jo Kašpar, co-founder and resident of Bristol’s forward-thinking label and party series Dialogue.

After several years writing and performing as one half of duo @astryd_music, Jo’s new project sees them turn towards more personal, intimate and conceptual explorations. The result is a trio of bold, technoid soundscapes - with an emphasis on intricate, detailed sound design. With a name like “Le Matin” - French for “the morning” - one could be forgiven for expecting something mellow. Gritty drums are layered over revolving time signatures, taking inspiration from footwork, grime, hip hop and rave. Le Matin celebrates the power of a vocal sample, chopping, reconstructing, looping to infinity and re-emerging with momentary clarity before diving back into disarray. Claiming that “we can change the party”, or “I just took my first shot”, his sense of humour is as strong as his sense of rhythm. Noisy hits pan and shake from one side to the other, turning the body to butter, Le Matin is a master of deranged patterns. Simple yet effective, his latest release is sure to unhinge any joint.
