As an outfit that has existed on the fringes of the club scene, Operant continues their willingness to break genre taboos and expectations with their debut LP, Traumkörper, exhibiting a hybrid vision of electronic and organic elements that gives rise to a sound self-described as somewhere between extra-terrestrial black-metal, singularity-sludge, proto-psy-trance, anime noise-core techno and auto-tuned trap-folk.

These disparate methodologies are bound together by the conceptual elements that operate at the core of Operant’s thematic universe: the transcendence and destruction of the body, consciousness melding with machines and the manufacturing of new realities. As a blueprint to new forms, Traumkörper sets a path both disorienting and euphoric.

Over the course of 11 tracks the Berlin based duo and operators of record label, Instruments Of Discipline, Luna Vassarotti (IT) and August Skipper (AUS) birth their dream-body, an unsettling soundtrack for the strangeness of our times.

OPERANT - Cut Your Fucking Throat

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Antechamber. "In The Vaulted Hall (Yura Yura Remix)" is out on the forthcoming Night Wounds Time EP out on Depth.Request. Produced by British-born underground scene veteran Mahk Rumbae under the guise antechamber, which—in slight contrast to his arguably better known alias Codex Empire—he ostensibly reserves for a more dysfunctional brand of electronic music intended as much for frantic terpsichorean participation as for contemplating the inevitable under the gloom of moonless nights. In line with the offbeat nature of sounds presented, the release gives a subtle nod to Tom Phillips' literary oeuvre "A Humument", borrowing its name and track titles from the lines within the idiosyncratic book.

Today we present this killer remix from French noisemaker YURA YURA who distorts the original for an explosive track of industrial chaos.

This is the year 2022, not 1942, and sadly the Ukrainians are facing something no people should. When this war broke out well over a month ago, I (MÆDON), started reaching out to artist friends asking if they were interested in contributing to a benefit comp for the Ukrainian’s. Many amazing artists joined and the result is a 15 track album filled with a dynamic range of sounds.

With this album, a new series on Sonic Groove is born, “Sonic Groove & Friends”. A series that myself, MÆDON, will be curating. Adam and I also want to thank each of the artists for contributing stellar tracks for this cause.

This album will not be a permanent fixture, so please download it now and know that your money will be donated to a German charity to benefit Ukrainians in this awful time. We will give an update in due time sharing which foundation we donate the money too. Please note, we will not be donating to a charity/foundation that funds weapons of war.

Focusing on intermedia, editions and installations, Catastrophe Existentielle is an extension from the practice of Chloe into other medias and focuses on raw and uncompromising imagery.

Here in this collaboration, The Undertaker’s Tapes and Catastrophe Existentielle takes a deep dive into French electronics, from minimal to synth synth wave, up until post punk.
