The cover art just shows how used up Foane looks. It's like she was wearing a mask for so long even when she was put out of use that she lost herself behind the cat thing. Hearing stuff like "it's so good to smile again" in her EX-form really shows that the cat means nothing to her and now she is (almost) free.
