It’s been a while now since dance music stopped suddenly and also it’s been a while since the Exium duo released stuff here at home. Héctor and Valentin have been busy in their studios during these uncertain days, extracting the best out of their minds and tools to create this four tracker. If you are familiar with the Exium sound over the years, you can feel here a sort of comeback to their primitive roots. The sound is harsher, more violent, the components are a chosen few but well standing in the mix, the rhythms are broken and twisted. Nothing easy for the ear. If you push the boundaries like they do, there’s still hope in techno as a constantly new and risky journey. Totally the opposite of cloning what is done. Ascendo relies on a broken kick surrounded by industrial noises and distorted textures. Merciless Atheris uses again nonlinear drums as the basement, spicing the recipe with overdriven pads and abstract sonic elements. Cyclotron is the only 4/4 cut here. A random square wave distorted synth line is the leitmotiv, joined by different layers of sonic components creating an aggressive scfi joint. Low Pressure Discharge closes the release returning to abstract breaks as foundation, with metallic industrial hits on top. This release is not for the tuff ones or the soft minded. Tradition and futurism all in one.

Poland-based producer - RETHE invites you on an emotional journey through his diverse sound palette with his 4-track EP. The record was made in late 2020, following some difficult and cathartic experiences, which were subconciously transformed into four complex, theatrical works. The key themes are: uncertainty, fear, acceptance and wisdom that comes from not knowing. Distant, echoing intro of the opening track, "Northern Lights", slowly transforms into an increasingly dense narrative, with meticulously crafted breakbeat drums and hazy, textured synths. "Solstice" kicks off with a similar, yet more powerful offbeat groove, which quickly catches fire as other rhythmic elements appear, giving way to its huge, anthemic lead. The track then explodes into a galloping four on the floor overlaid with warm, nostalgic melodies. The title track, "Trust the Process", keeps up the intense energy of its predecessor with its multi-layered groove, dense atmospherics and scream-like sounds. The last track, "Layers of Confusion", filled with thunderous percussion, driving melodies and pads, brings the journey to a conclusion.

Skryptöm celebrates 15 years with a series of four collab EPs. Each artist of the label invited one of their favorite producers for a unique collaboration. A lot has happened over the past 15 years, new musical styles, switch from vinyl to digital and streams… changes that Antoine Husson (aka Electric Rescue) has welcomed with the
same passion since the label creation in 2007. The french imprint has turned into a family of artists and projects, expanding into different musical styles, developing older members and welcoming new ones.
All artists spent days together jamming in the Skryptöm Collective project on various occasions in Caen, Nantes and Morocco before the pandemic. More recently the frequent Skryptöm parties at Nexus and Km25 (Paris) helped bond all artists together.

With this family spirit in mind, all artists had to feature on the compilation and the collabs were a fun way to welcome friends, mentors and inspirations.

We would like to thank all participating artists and hope you enjoy these 20 tracks.

Consisting of four tracks, the EP shows Kastil’s impressive versatility, ranging from haunting soundscapes to high octane dance floor ready gems. Today we present “Infrared Band”, which quickly became a favorite of the release with its tension building mood mutating into futuristic sonic destroyer. 

The release is out on digital formats July 14th.
