Set the Mood with Creznight!

This 63rd edition of Set the Mood captures the essence of how Creznight first fell in love with techno. When he stepped into a club for the very first time, the room was still empty, but he was instantly hooked. The music wasn’t heavy yet, but it was beautiful. There was space between the sounds, carried by deep, rolling basslines. Even though it was loud, it didn’t feel harsh. The smoke filled the air, and the atmosphere was mysterious, with pads and subtle strings adding melody in the background. The bass felt warm, almost like it was breathing with the room. For Creznight, it was a spiritual feeling.

To him, that’s the essence of an opening set. It should feel calm but alive, full of variety without being overwhelming. It’s about building slowly, guiding the energy step by step, always one move ahead of the crowd. In his opinion, the hardest, and most important, slot of the night is the opener. Without a strong opener, the vibe can be ruined before it even begins. He compares it to waking up fully stressed—you spend the whole day recovering.

That’s why Creznight believes an opening set should have a sense of predictability and flow, but never fall into monotony. It should explore deeper sounds, with enough variety to keep the room engaged and gradually evolve into something more danceable for the next DJ. In this mix, he has leaned into that deeper side, creating a warm, rolling journey that starts subtle and builds into movement.

As the owner of Oefenmeesters, one of our own, Creznight carries that same vision into his wider work: creating spaces, sets, and experiences that inspire growth, connection, and flow.

Creznight - Set the Mood 063 (Oefenmeesters)

Fuse resident Downside delivers the ninth release on Fuse Imprint with Traces Of Spring, a record that reflects both clean articulation and careful tension building. Across four tracks, he explores a balance of intensity and restraint, depicting a narrative that mirrors his evolving role within the club.

Opening with Until It Fades, the A1 sets a hypnotic tone through patient layering and ambient space, hinting at drama while maintaining subtlety. With Blackout Protocol, the atmosphere turns into focus through an imposing, clear low-end that takes control, driving a darker framework designed for moments of deepened urgency. On the flip, Revolt moves with raw immediacy, its rhythm pushing forward with detail and weight, yet strangely uplifting. Closing with the title track, Traces Of Spring offers a suspended atmosphere, delicate in rhythm and melody, it's a reflection of the fragile balance between soft synth tension hanging by a thread and a focused, monumental pace.

With this release, Downside contributes a coherent and articulate statement to the Fuse catalogue, one that captures both the physicality of the dancefloor and the subtleties that extend beyond it.

The planets flashed before his eyes as he watched from the desolate outback of space and stared back towards earth. This was to be his return to light, a rebirth amidst the misty fires of space in which a new life would be born. He had never been built for the likes of humankind, for he was an outsider, an alien and something strange. Now as he careered between the fizzing stars he began to wonder whether he might ever feel at home in this galaxy, only time might tell. 

JoeFarr knows how to pack a punch, a techno innovator with a drive towards machine powered music unlike any other. His music is often instantly recognisable and punchy, distinct and powerful in the midst of a club but equally daunting on the ear under the hazy dark of the night sky. He has announced a new compilation on his own User Experience label featuring an array of talented producers and friends. It is his track which we feature, it seems only fair.
