Nokia Balistikz blends club-focused sound design with experimental structures, moving between broken rhythms, heavy bass, and textural detail. Rooted in the aesthetics of the Bern underground, the album reflects a DIY approach that values rawness, and sonic unpredictability.

The production relies on a combination of analog and digital techniques, using samplers, drum machines, and synthesizers, with a strong focus on 90s sample CDs and hardware as both sound sources and creative tools. 

It integrates elements from Rap, Drill, Baile Funk, and experimental electronic music. Field recordings, vocal fragments, and ambient noise are layered into the compositions, with intentional roughness and looseness playing a central role in the aesthetic.

Slam return on their @Soma Records label, with the Quiet Riot EP.

2020 has been a very prolific year for the Scottish duo, delivering their 4th EP for the label so far this year. All their firing trademark sounds and intricacies remain intact in this 3 track hard-hitting release.

"Severed" opens with hard, industrial elements as the relentless percussion fires off, but in true Slam style the vibe remains hypnotic and engaging. "Motor" drifts into more Birmingham-esq territory with twitch and modulating sequences leading the way again straight, jacked up percussion. Intensifying things on the last track, "Electrical" turns up the drive and delivers tension with white knuckle percussive workouts, thundering kicks and dynamic synths.
