Occultists is excited to announce the latest episode of our Occult Rituals Podcast series. We've decided to start this podcast series to give our artists, remixers, and industry friends a platform to share their musical ritual with us. This gives the artist the freedom to tell their story without genre constraints. The only requirement is that the mix must tell a story of their ritual.

For our twenty-eight edition, label artist Ex.Hale presents a 1-hour slamming drum and bass mix with industrial undertones that is sure to please any jungle and breakbeat junkie. Tune in and play it loud!

Occult Rituals Podcast 28 | Ex.Hale

Industrial Complexx presents a new set in a series of guest artist mixes. This time by James Demon, an artist who has dedicated his life to music and to the creation of soulful and ethereal sounds. He learned to sing and play the cello at a very young age, which solidified his musical curiosity. James was born with a gift for melody that has followed him throughout his life.

Growing up in the 90s rave scene, he was swept up in the sounds of Techno and Happy Hardcore and started collecting vinyls to experiment with on his first pair of turntables. He began exploring genres from electro to minimal, electroclash to EBM, but eventually found his true love in the dark and experimental soundscapes of Techno. He started DJing in the early 2000s at different clubs and shows across the United States. Playing mesmerizing, pulse-pounding beats that would later come to define his sound. 

In 2013, James moved to Berlin to deepen his passion for electronic music. He started throwing parties and DJing regularly at clubs like Wilde Renate, Griessmuehle, and Kit Kat Club.  James sound is often enigmatic and boundary-pushing. His aim is to connect his audience to the sacred through his music. James sessions are a ritual that transcends language and cultural barriers. 

In 2016, with an unwavering commitment to the underground scene, James decided to merge his passion for the mystical and Techno by launching a record label called Occultists. The label aims to showcase emerging artists who create a unique blend of electronic music, Post-Punk, and Dark Wave. The essence of this project was to create a label that was a doorway for the arcane and the mystical into the Techno scene.

With a vision to craft a sonic landscape tailored for witches and esoteric forces. Occultists was created to bring etheral music to the ravers and make them dance in a transcendental realm. Occultists' roster (Lucia Luna, Mystic Future, Dugong, Skin and many more..) is a blend of genre-defying artists. Its essence is a wide range of musical styles that are characterized as dark and ethereal, with sounds that evoques melancholy and beauty created through icy synthesizers, harmonic riffs and fast tempos.

In 2022, he released “Dark Sacrament” an EP on Coincidence Recordings after that in 2023, he released a new EP called “Night Child”. His style of music often features spellbinding basslines and atmospheric synths, which creates a vibe that gets you fully immersed in the sound.  Through his journey as an artist James was very inspired by horror movies in his music production. It evokes in him ways to push boundaries and connect with the unknown.

Today James is known for his captivating performances that blur the lines between music, art, and ritual. His art is a contrast of elements such as light and darkness, feminine and masculine, soft and hard. This interplay of opposites creates a perfect harmony in his creative expression. His music combines haunting melodies, pulsating beats, and obsessive snare drums. His dark and hypnotic soundscapes have solidified his reputation as a master of the Unconventional Avant-garde Electronic genre.

Odile Nyx is a DJ/Producer based in Athens. She has participated in various clubs and festivals in Athens such as PliskeenFest alongside KA:AST, Marie Montexier and more. In 2021 she released her first EP Fractured that would be discribed as a hybrid elecronic soundscape formin in a metropolitan womb. Her preferences are accompanied by harsh beats with a glimpse of harmonic melody from IDM to Techno. She also hosts her own show at Onassis Stegi Radio.

This EP emerges as the latest drop from VūMantra Records, a collaboration between Vū and Nigh/T\mare, well known for their dark and abyssal deep productions. Within its confines, a sonic landscape unfolds, blending gritty industrial beats with ritualistic undertones. Across four tracks raw visceral energy pulsates, each piece imbued with its own distinct vibe. The first track “Portale” by Nigh/T\mare sets the mood with an orchestra of merciless percussion and faint melodies. It is followed by Vū’s “Cruda” which accelerates the tempo, playing frenetic Arabic percussions on odd rhythms surmounted by his eerie voice echoing in the distance. To complete the EP the 2 artists remix each other’s tracks adding darkness to already pitch-black canvases. From haunting melodies to bone-rattling basslines, a mind-altering journey through the depths of the underground tribal beats awaits.

Nigh/T\mare

A malevolent obscurity is followed by a sentimental melancholy drifting towards a deep journey into the introspection and the subconscious. It constantly emerges into the horrific and ritualistic soundscape of cryptic techno, of ancient tribal images, and of industrial dystopian visions, all melancholy is then shattered for having embraced evilness.
Giuseppe Sciretti, better known as Nigh/T\mare Alias, is an Italian DJ, producer, and live performer who is based in Puglia (South Italy). In 2017, he released a solo EP on the Bulgarian label DVNTT, and the following year, he made his vinyl debut with "Hypnagogia" on Thrènes records after also releasing music on labels like Several Minor Promises, Voidance, Depth Request, Borders Of Known, Blame Rec, VūMantra Records. In 2021, he released his first 2x12" album, "Katharsis," on the label that is now called Thrènes, and in 2022, he released "Ceremony" on Forbidden Teachings, which led to numerous collaborations with international musicians like Pact Infernal, Torn Relics, Alexey Volkow, LAIR, Prophàn, Killawatt, and many others.

Vū
Vince Gagliardi, better known by his stage name Vū, is a music producer of ethnic electronic music and experimental dark techno from Berlin. His style has been compared to artists like Muslimgauze, Tzusing and Demdike Stare. 
He is also the founder of the label “Vūmantra Records”, co-founder of the label “Modern Bön” and creator of the audiovisual project “The Nent” (Cyclic Law), well-known for its impactful A∖V live performances. Vū´s performances focus on an immersive experience creating endarkening rhythms for dystopic sub-cultures. His voice fuses with drum machines and is accompanied by live percussion, which pulls the audience into the present moment and creates a shamanic vibe.
Some of Vū’s tracks have been released on Pact Infernal’s label "Altar", Borders of Known (GE), Dark Alchemy (UK), Voidance (DE), Elektro Tribe (DE), Furanum Records (DE), Area Z (FR) and more.
In the past few years, Vū has performed live at clubs and festivals such as OHM Berlin, KitKatClub, About Blank, Mensch Meier ( with the Queer techno label SUBVERTED ), and Lunchmeat Festival 2020 ( see link below) , where he was the opening act for SOPHIE’s last ever performance.

"ENDLESS DESERT" is an upcoming album coming on Khoinix by Ottoman Grüw, based in Brussels, and Inside Blur, hailing from Montreal. 

Like a grieving spirit stuck in a machine, this album explores the complex emotional dimension of technology,  delivering a mesmerizing blend of atmospheric tones, dark ambiance, and technoïd EBM. 

At its core, "ENDLESS DESERT" is a dystopian soundtrack for a picturesque decaying world.

The collaboration between Ottoman Grüw and Inside Blur showcases their shared artistic vision, seamlessly melding their respective musical styles into a cohesive whole.

In addition to the original tracks, the album features remixes by notable artists from different corners of the globe. 
Annika Wolfe from Los Angeles, NGHTLY from western Italy, Incendie from Berlin, and sch_tsch from Zürich contribute their creative interpretations to the album.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Minimum Syndicat. "March Of The Juggernaut" comes off the release S.C.H.O.R.L., forthcoming on Berlin's KILLEKILL. The Parisian duo (also known as MS or M-Syndicat) have been making electronic noise and live performances for decades. They are known for their very unique mix of acid, rave and industrial on the one hand and cinematic,
psychedelic, sci-fi landscapes on the other. S.C.H.O.R.L. is their first full length album. Like some kind of bleak space opera it tells its story of lonely subaquatic outposts, Soviet droids and mantis-priests gathering. The core is spaced out electro, but it also has elements of techno, doomcore, breakbeat and industrial, one could say. "At this point subgenres are less important than in the past, it's
more like the alternative electronic scene against the industry turning techno into moronic
money-driven entertainment.“, they say, and right they are.

The album features two collaborations with French heavyweights Umwelt and Voiron, the
artwork comes from the legendary Belgian artist Elzo Durt, who made some of our strongest
artworks in the past and who is a fan of Minimum Syndicat himself. The 2x12“ is limited to
100 copies, handnumbered and comes with a silk-screen A2 poster with a version of the
artwork.
