Some Aul Horn On Me

Secret Crunch is a label fresh out of the oven run by fellow Vienna-based artists Roman Rauch and Moony Me. 
Both musically rooted in HipHop, Soul, Funk and Disco and expressing themselves mainly through House Music, it was just a matter of time until they first collaborated together. Thoughts about releasing their output together through an own label came naturally soon after.
The first release of Secret Crunch is a pure collaboration between them plus two additional remixes – one by Gnork and this one by Medlar & Ishmael.

Rob Glassett aka FOLD delivers three 90’s Peacefrog inspired deep percussive house jams, accompanied by a big room broken beat Mall Grab remix.

‘Tunnels’ begins with a flurry of drums before being enveloped by sub-bass pressure, like stepping directly into a basement club in full flow. As the track climaxes, saxophones sweep the air like green-spoked lasers overhead, creating a contrast of pinpoint clarity against the background atmosphere. Though sonically well outside Bristol’s dubstep legacy, it accurately portrays the smudged perception of a peak time rave. On the flip, we find the more introverted 'First Light', wherein the group downshift from the buzz of a bustling room to the hum of one’s head as dawn breaks. It is a moment of spacious solitude shared only, as Cunningham pictures it, with “swans fighting over polystyrene chip boxes” in the canal below.

Västkransen Records is a vinyl label releasing new house and disco from producers in Stockholm's dance music scene. On the inaugural release of Västkransen Variations, Salary Boy and Ari Bald team up to explore four shades of house. While both these Stockholm producers have been hailed for their tasty sample-based dance tracks, they now reveal a deeper side of themselves.

On the A-side, Salary Boy gives us “Newland Court”, whose bassline and jazzy soundscapes might bring a certain Larry Heard to mind. However, the production is a timeless piece of house beauty. On his remix, Ari Bald infuses the track with punchy breakbeats and wild arpeggios.

On the AA-side, Ari continues with “Daytrippin’”, a retro-futuristic saga which plays out in a dreamlike, almost druggy, haze. Salary Boy then closes the record with his own interpretation of the track, stripping it down it into a powerful four-on-the-floor spinner.
