The restriction of electoral rights to workers suggests that quite a large number of non-workers are being excluded. This in turn suggests that Marx's analysis of revolution in terms of the contradictions in dialectic of forces and relations of production has been abandoned and that communism can be built by an opportunistic political act imposed on society. I think the Russias, Chinese and others already tried that. I did not work out well, and it will not work out well in future either.

This definition of 'levelling' is essentially levelling downwards, simplifying things so that everyone can understand and make judgements about what it happening. This is wholly unrealistic. Some things - not least industrial production - are simply complicated in themselves. They can be better explained and simplified to a degree, but not made accessible to everyone without trivialising Them. A far better solution is to see the future of capitalism in terms of the development of the workers as they are replaced by fixed capital, and the proletarianisation of the middle classes. This would create a unified class of all workers, with skills and knowledge commensurate with the development of capital itself.

If we are to rely on ethics to make everything belong to everyone, communism is doomed. Communism must arise from the structural development of the forces and relations of production. Otherwise it has no real basis and aspiring to it is just wishfulness.
