Writing 17 was single-handedly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I starting piecing this song together late May of 2022 in my bedroom with no idea what direction it would go in. All I knew is that I had a bunch of feelings, words left unsaid, and intrusive thoughts that were flooding my head. The song kind of wrote it self.  I’ve never been in a more vulnerable state of mind. The track is titled 17 because it encapsulates being young, and all the doubts and emotions thats come with it this year. It’s my story about a situation that took control of me.  I sing the lyrics “maybe some of it was me to blame, I could’ve ran but countless times I stayed”, reflecting on a how differently things could have ended if I had just chosen to walk away.  It’s my story about the innocent, fragile parts of me being stripped away. Still choosing to see the good in someone although they give you every reason not too. My vulnerability became my biggest weakness, and I felt defeated. After the smog had cleared, and my vision was no longer blurred , I started to see just how much I was taken advantage of, and how much manipulation had truly taken place. It’s a ballad about betrayal. 

 I still carry pain in my heart, but with this release I hope to gain a sense of closure. This song has a very unfinished and raw feel to it, but I can’t picture putting it out any other way. I hope you love it just as much as I do.
