Fender Jaguar Reissue (Drop A); Big Muff Tone Wicker; Studio Kit, Orange TH30, Various microphones. 

Vocals were the only track to be layered over afterwards. NO bass guitar was added. There are NO overdubs. All tracks were recorded, mixed, mastered and saved between 10:00am - 18:57pm on Sunday, 11th October, 2015.

The End Of The Whirl

Novelty Island is the project of Liverpool-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Tom McConnell. He grew up between Newcastle and Liverpool and takes inspiration from the pop music, surrealism and melancholy of the North. After a series of psychedelic EPs, the debut Novelty Island album ‘How Are You Coping With This Century’ was released in Autumn 2021. It led to the Novelty Island live band performing at Glastonbury and supporting Sea Power and The Pale White around the UK. McConnell then turned to recordings he’d made as a student at Abbey Road Institute for the second Novelty Island album, ‘Wallsend Weekend Television’. The album was released in March 2023 and followed by a 10-date UK headline tour. Both Novelty Island albums have received five-star reviews from Shindig and R’n’R as well as support from Mojo, BBC Radio 6, BBC Introducing and Absolute Radio. 

McConnell also creates the surreal imagery around Novelty Island in the form of papier-mâché props, dreamy animations, claymation videos and a never-ending Instagram account.

LIVE SHOW! 31.08.24 We are excited to announce The Lonely as the headliner for our 2 day fest @Hanks Cambridge, Tall Trees CB2 1EN.

The Lonely are Local legends with a classic British rock sound played with true passion & skill that's been tuned over 45 years of shows & songwriting together. 

They will be joined by the sultry and passionate sound of Angie Collins and Mal Hyde-Smith of Bete Nôir, & Luna Falls will be opening the evening with their trio of acoustic & vocal harmonies.

30.08.24 The first day of this special festival we will enjoy the melodious and soulful Amerciana sounds of Imlac the full band, the epic, electrifying spicy blues & soulful Psychedelia of The 29th Funktion, with a two full sets of original music. 

We also welcome the insightful & rootsy lyricism of Josh Robin's songwriting & Eli Bre's reflective & passionate folky harmonies to open this event.
