"Dark Forebodings" is the another downtempo song from my "Dark Matter Cycle". The forbodings of the title are both in relation to the words of JFK used in the songs and also to the signs of our times. This speech by the former president is not about having absolute openness as a government, rather about the necessity to keep governmental secrets to a minimum and the obligation of the press to both check that there are no secret governmental dealings while also being conscious about their role in national security. But it does serve as a warning that there will always be a tendency to curtail freedom in the name of state security.  And the signs of our times point to a historically unparalleled complete surveillance which we might come to regret in the not too distant future.

Enough rambling, here's something about the song: It was recorded in Reaper, with most of the synths done with (sometimes heavily) modified Reaktor ensembles. The different bass synths were done with Massive and one of the Lead Synths is from AAS. The piano parts were once again played "live" on a Yamaha Clavinova piano. The piano sounds, like the strings, come from Kontakt libraries.

I thought that the song's lyrics and Elli's lovely vocals in this song have a slightly haunting quality, which I tried to emphasize by reducing the speed and selecting corresponding synth sounds. Enjoy!

"Eternity as One Day" started out as a completely different song, completely different genre as well, as it was originally planned as a rock song for the band "Growing Old Disgracefully". But only a demo was ever recorded and the song discarded.
For this version only the bass line was used, the original bass line mostly replaced with synth bass, but leaving the song structure intact. Around this skeleton I built the different synth layers and constructed the rhythm parts in NI Maschine.
The song was tracked and recorded in Reaper.

Back to some slow grooves ... the fourth song of my "Dark Matter" cycle. Apart from the vocal samples and the piano (mainly between 3:01 and 3:44) everything was created using Maschine Mikro.

Against a Dark Background

Making music since the mid 80s of the last millennium. Coming from a rock background, I fronted several local bands singing and playing guitar & played keyboards and bass in other bands. Swapped sides beginning of the 90s, working as a sound (and lighting) engineer until 2000. 
I have been producing (low key / demos) my own material and other artists for over 25 years. Switched to an all computer based set-up a year ago and haven't looked back.
I have always also dabbled in electronic music, but mostly ambience & experimental soundscapes. Recently branched out into Trance & started producing original material in late 2012. I'm currently doing mostly downtempo electronica (different styles).

I'm open to collaborations, not just for electronic music. For my own songs I'm especially looking for (female) singers. If you want to work with me, just write me a mail.
